Henna dye for tattoos

Where to buy dyes or tattoo kits

A friend of mine is going to several outdoor parties / festivals around Europe this summer and she would like me to do a large Henna tattoo for her.

Does anyone know where I may be able to find Henna products / dye or Henna tattoo kits in Munich?

Maybe an Asian store? I am just guessing, as I really don't know, but think they might have or a store with lots of Indian clothing and such.

My first guess would be the indian store in Hauptbahnhof, near the Müller drug store. If not there try spagetthi company also in Hauptbahnhof.

Thanks for the suggestions. I know the Indian store in the Hauptbahnhof. I'll go and look there and I'm sure if they don't have it, they may know where to find it.

As I seem to have become the self-proclaimed guardian of fellow TT folk warning against life's many perils (drugs, tattoos etc) I thought it is worth adding at this stage:

WARNING: Black henna tattoos are likely to cause serious damage to the skin. Although there is much black henna information available online, people continue to clamor for black henna tattoos.

Sounds like in this case you will be buying the regular stuff from a decent store, but for those tempted on holiday etc...do not get a "black" henna tattoo as it contains petroleum based chemical dyes that can cause keloid scarring etc.

I obviously don't care about the average drug-smoking-unprotected-sex-heroin-shooting TT member. My main concern is for those of us with kids - dont let them get cheap Henna tattoos on holiday or they can get scars as below:

That's a picture of a branding and not a scar caused by henna.
Henna can cause scars put the picture above is not one of them.

Sorry Dingus - in that case I stand corrected but cannot edit the post any longer to change it.

More from the BBC here which says:

"There's lots of fuss about henna tattoos because a young girl's been scarred after she had an allergic reaction to the ingredients. But don't worry too much. Allergic reactions to henna tattoos are pretty rare. "

oh bummer. Mr. Admin: first you tempt us with the lovely photo off the front page, then you remove this photo?

Ms. Admin please, and the image was copyrighted anyway. It looked like a branding to Dingus, but it also looked like the pictures here, which are supposed to be from black henna:

And I think the picture up top is inappropriate for the topic anyway.

FYI someone gave me -2 karma for this very post.

Thanks for the information about Black Henna and the concerns expressed about it. I've done Henna tattoos, hair dying and also used it in various other artistic ways in the past. I know about Black Henna and the dangers involved in using it and wouldn't go near the stuff. I'm not into hardcore body altering. When using any dye products, even when sold in popular stores or pharmacies, it is always advisable to do a skin test first. Different people react differently to various products and the chemicals contained in them. Some even react to certain dye's used in clothing and textiles.
I used the image of the woman because my friend is a woman and wanted something similar to the tattoo done in the image, except bigger and wrapping around her breasts and top half of her body. I happen to think it is a beautiful and artist picture depicting the female form and my apologies to those for any offense given by it.
In the meantime I have found a licensed supplier in California that will ship Henna kits/products to me at a good price smile.gif
