DB within the MVV network

Does anyone know if DB trains can be used with MVV tickets (e.g. Isarcard monthly) within the MVV network. For example: I will have a monthly ticket to Grafing on the S5. The first stop of the DB RE train to Salzburg is Grafing: can I use my MVV ticket to take this train? I know it is possible in other German traffic nets (VGN for example).

I thought the S-bahns are operating under the hood of the DB??

From what I know you can, but I am not totally sure. With the BOB it's the same story. If you have an Isarcard to wherever and you need a ticket for the BOB, you only pay the fare from where the Isarcard stops.

Don't know if this is any help for you, but I know in Berlin you are allowed to use the regional trains of DB (like RE and RB) within in the VBB (which is the local public transport network comparable to MVV) with your monthly ticket.
So I imagine it could be similarly here in Munich with the MVV. ..?!?

I don't think that you can but I am not 100% sure.
It wouldn't make sense for DB to let you do this because there is the DB CityTicket which is for DB Trains plus use of the MVV inner Munich network.
Unless someone else here knows I think you'd have to phone the MVV though. VGN does let you do this though but I have colleagues who live in Pasing who use a City Ticket instead of a MVV pass.
S-Bahns are operated by DB but are run for MVV. It is bloody complicated unsure.gif
Good luck,

Thanks for the replies guys.

I am pretty sure that you can, but I cannot find any info on the net. The Tarifplan (that blue bordered poster in all the u and s bahn stations) shows a few exclusively DB routes (to Aßling for example) and loads of RVO bus stuff within its zones: I am guessing they wouldn't do that unless they were covered.

I don't know whether it makes monetary sense for DB, but there are quite a few things they are required by the goverment to operate. I will pop along to the MVV counter on my way home, if nowt else comes up here.

I'm pretty sure you can - but only on the 'lower class' trains (RB, BOB etc). But I think its only valid for certain lines.
