Hello Moms!
I've been reading your posts... and I too am a mother (of two - 4 yrs and 2 yrs). When I arrived in Munich I joined the International Women's Club and found lots to do with or without kids. But, I've now started my own "club" - Munich Mommies. We've been meeting as families every other month at the Hofbraukeller :-) I'd like to add a few more events and would definately welcome some help in organizing events. Let me know if you would like more information or join the email list.

Hi Candice
Well I for one would be interested. I also frequent the Hofbraukeller...

I'm not sure how much time I could devote to helping (although I would love to) as I'm frantically trying to finish my studies before no.2 is here in October. But please let me know what would be involved etc.
Thanks.

Hi Pally,
If all works out we should be near by. We have a son about 6 months younger then yours and I am sure my wife will be dying to meet other moms in the area. I know she already does a weeking late breakfast with a fellow mother and she enjoys the time.

Hi
My son will be three in August and he would love some playmates, especially as he doesn't start kindergarten until September. It would be great to meet up with others in the same situation.

Hi moms!
I am planning a family event this weekend - Saturday at one of the beer gardens. If would like meet up with us - Munich Mommies (Daddies & Nannies, too). Dads and all of the kids are welcome to come. Beginning in the fall, I will schedule one family event and one parents event each month. I've got some great ideas and possibilities... (ie..expert advice on raising children bi-lingually) :-)
Anyhow, please let me know if you can come on Saturday -

FAMILY EVENT - Location Change!!!
We will go to the Hofbraukeller today instead of the Hirshau Bier Garten. Since the rain continues...It will be best to meet at the Hofbraukeller. If the sun comes out then we can go outside, otherwise, we will meet inside. I've reserved a table under the name "KOLLER".
Hope to see you there!

Hi Candace,
am I right in understanding that there is no charge for attending the "family event"? (I looked at your website and saw that the Munchkins classes do have a fee associated).
Would it be appropriate for small babies? (for that matter, at what age do you think it makes sense to start a class or playgroup such as your Munchkins classes or the groups at Sticky Fingers?)
Thanks for any info!

No fee for attending the family events. They are for getting together with other families, socializing, sharing in our experiences, etc...
As for starting groups, I think it is best to start as soon after you have your baby and can get out of the house. In the beginning, the groups are for YOU - to help you with becoming a mother, or a second time mother, etc.. You need support and it is helpful to find support or advice at baby groups. Once your child is around 18 months (plus or minus a few months), the groups are for your child's development - socially, physically, emotionally. Children's brains learn more in the first 3 years of life than at any other time. It is a very important time (1-3 yrs) in a child's life - their sense of self, their self esteem, socialization - all of these are formed as well and serve as a base for the raminder of a person's life.

Well, really, it is Mommies, Daddies and Nannies -
We also have daddies and nannies who come to our get togethers with the children. The one requirement is that you must have children.
