I imagine it happens just as often in the US. Difference being there are actually employees on the floor who put it all back in a timely manner.
The scary part to me is having defrosted frozen food refrozen.

Ooh!! So, back in the beginning of August we ordered a 2.30m dining room table and 10 leather chairs to match (not easy finding the chairs that fit best). We have already taken delivery (about 2 weeks ago) on the chairs. Today!! Today, exactly 2 months and 10 days after we ordered the table, they call us and tell us that the table is not available in this size and the biggest it comes in is 2m!! To say my husband is pissed off is putting it mildly. Apparently this company (Who's Perfect? who we've done business with before and never had any problems) has know since Sept 1 that the table wasn't available. The part that pisses me off is that they didn't bother to contact us for 5 more weeks and now we have 10 chairs that 1) maybe do not match the new table (whatever it is) and 2) we have 10 of them - which is too many for a 2 m table.
I can't believe they waited this long to tell us!!! Grrrr!!

"Who's Perfect?" Hmm, I guess their name gives them a lot of leeway... Hate that place. Sleazy commission salesmen... Prices are really not that good, either.

If the table and chairs came from the same place and were on the same order, you should have the option of sending the chairs back and starting over. They did not fulfill their part.
In a perfect Germany, that is.
I feel your pain. Waiting for furniture already sux without the muck up.
Never pay more than a deposit until you get everything and inspect every inch. That I what I learned the hard way.

thanks for the advice. My husband already demanded that they 1) refund the deposit and 2) with interest on the 2.5 months that they've had our money. What sux is that we are back to square one - searching for another table.

No, nothing like this. Think more modern, more expensive.

We are on the market for one as well. Same table size but we want only 8 chairs. Maybe you can share your findings. In this place
http://www.flamme.de/ we found one table we like with very nice chairs but unfortunately they did not have that table in the color we want (dark brown).

This is a company that does custom-made solid wood tables with showroom in Munich:

Well, we are looking for a wenge table with stainless steel or brushed aluminum accents. There is also a Rolf Benz one that we like too. It was just that the one we picked out was perfect. We don't want a solid wood.
We've been to Flamme (this is where we bought our Rolf Benz couch) - they are great and have great customer service. Mostly it's Rolf Benz that has great customer service - they will actually come to your house to repair the couch (scratches, rips, whatever) and if they can't fix it, they'll replace it.
