I've been having the pleasure of registering my car here in Munich (so that I can get it insured!).
Unfortunately it didn't pass the TUV (vehicle inspection) and I need to get some car parts to correct the problems.
Luckily the problems are mostly related to the headlights so I need to replace the front light fittings (they are currently yellow - as my car is originally from France - but this is the wrong colour for the German regulations).
So, does anyone know a good place to buy some car parts for a BMW?

You might try the spare parts markets at
or Autoscout24

It depends how old the Beemer is, but I would always advise having real BMW parts, and real BMW labour - looks good when you sell it on, and you have some come back if the car still has problems passing the TuV.

When replacing something as pathetically easy as lights you'd be paying through the nose for "BMW" service. With brakes, suspension etc I'd probably go to BMW, if I had a BMW. Depends how old the thing is.
If you must go to BMW, try phoning a BMW werkstatt outside of munich (i.e. Freising, Erding), as the costs may be _substantially_ cheaper.
For example (not BMW I admit), I wanted an oil change (+filter + oil) a few months ago. In my nearest Opel Dealer in Munich they wanted over 90 euros for the whole thing (with full synthetic oil). In Freising the price was just 46 euros (also fully synthetic).
Go figure. Munich = ripoff

True - the age is a big factor. If it's a knackered old 3-series then try and get the part and do it yourself. If however it's a brand new M3 CSL I would probably be inclined to let a pro do it...

if you are looking for an auto-factor (spares shop), there is quite a large one that I have cycled past a few times near Moosach on Triebstr. near the junction of Dieselstr., haven't got a clue what it's called i'm afraid...

For little things like bulbs, exhaust, brakes, oil, etc .. try Stahlgruber
http://www.stahlgruber.de/There are many of them in Munich, closest one to the centre is above the MediaMarkt in the Stahlgruber Center (Einsteinstrasse). They have everything for european cars.
You could also try Trost in the East end of town (probably cheaper):
Eugen Trost GmbH & Co. KG
Karlsburger Straße 63
81829 München
Telefon: 089/427415-0
Telefax: 089/427415-10
http://www.trost.dePraktiker, V-Markt, and Wall-mart also carry the bulbs you need (cheapest price most likely Walmart .. but the two stores in Munich (and one in Unterschleissheim) are a little out of the way.
TrySchindelar for car parts. They take apart old cars and have all sorts of car parts. www. Schindelar.de has location and direction info.
