Year long travel insurance

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on where to get a annual travel policy (incl Canada). We went to ADAC and they only provide health cover annually. They don'y provide cancellation, baggage etc annually, only on a trip by trip basis. We would like more than just health insurance really. So has anyone found any good deals?

Medical Travel for me is covered in my Krankenverschierung, and I have a certain amount of travel insurance in my House Contents. Normal travel insurance would start getting pretty expensive for me as I fly to often

I used to have a yearly travel insurance deal in the UK but need to get a new one and might as well get one based in Germany.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I have got something from the DSV. This has the advantage that the ski coverage is pretty good and it is also regular travel insurance if you get the "Classic" or "Classic Plus" package.

I didn't do much shopping around/comparison of these things, but one of my mates told me it was good and I will believe anything.

I am taking a year out next jan to go travelling, South east Asia, Oz, New Zealand, South America. I am wondering if anyone can recommend travel insurance?

I've had an annual policy through Die Europäische for a number of years. They were cheap when I took it out, but I must admit I've not looked around recently to see if there's any cheaper now. Never had to claim (thankfully), so can't comment on what they're like when it comes to claims, but it's an option for you to look at.

We got a great deal through our health insurance - 12Euro for a couple for worldwide travel with HUK Coburg but Health insurance is with Barmer - they have some sort of reciprocal deal. It's only health insurance for abroad though, doesn't cover loss of bags, delays etc.. might be worth checking out if that's what you are after though... Although, I think that sort of stuff seems to be covered in my haftpflichtversicherung (sp) so maybe yours is too...

If you're traveling one year non-stop you'll need a Auslandskrankenversicherung, most cheap Reisekrankenversicherungen only cover you for 1-2 months.

I was with DKV twice, it was about 20 eur per month and 60 when traveling to the US. Didn't have any problems with them, they paid all bills I sent in within ~ 2 weeks.

It is just like Gorgo said above: the annual policies the other mention above a great to have if you travel a lot during the year but with no single trip being longer then 5070 consecutive days. If you need travel health insurance for a longer period, there are other contract available where you have to specify the duration and area of coverage. Basically you can get someting really good for about 3-5 EUR/day costs per person. Barmenia, LVM and Central are the leading providers here according to FINANZTEST, out of which I would recommend CENTRAL first and BARMENIA second.
