What to do on losing your "Lohnsteuerkarte"

Procedure for getting a replacement tax card

I just got a call from work saying that they still don't have Lohnsteuerkarte for 2005 from me. I just turned the flat upside down looking for it, despite being relatively sure that i took it to work as soon as it arrived, and it's definitely not here. I rang back work and asked the woman to check again, but she reckons she hasn't got it either, but she needs it.
Does anyone know if there's a procedure to get another one?

Poccistr. Takes only a minute, but do it fast or they switch you to Lohnsteur class six and take 65% of your lohn.

You simply ask for an "Ersatzlohnsteuerkarte" from your local Gemeinde. If you live in Munich city you can download the application form from here and take, post, email or fax it to The Kreisverwaltungsreferat (KVR) (click on the link for details).

Poccistr.

Ruppertstraße
Elfenstar
isn't that the same place? ruppert being the side street of poccistr.?

anyhow, i downloaded the forms and sent them in. had the same problem. i moved and my lohnsteuerkarte got sent to my old address and the forward request had expired so the city just kept it until i contacted them.

refering to U-Bahn station and then the signs in the U-Bahn are much more explanatory than a street sign and will direct you to the KVR without a worry.

Thakns, have just dealt with it online and faxed the form in. Am still convinced the dozy bat has lost the form, but hey...

hi all,

I have the same problem as the OP. My work are requesting that I send it in by the 31st of this month or I do indeed get moved to class 6 huh.gif Is it really as simple as walking into the Poccistr. place, asking for new one and walking out with it 2 minutes later? I assume I also have to take my passport with me?

muchos thanks smile.gif

Kathie your employer can print out the information that they fill in on your tax card and give you a copy of that - this is just as good to do your tax return. Some employers print this information out on a separate piece of paper anyway and staple it to your tax card.

yeah maybe I should've explained more: I'd rather do it in person so I can literally have it in my hand and take it to my HR assistant here. Job done. I just wanted to know if that's all you had to do to get a replacement.

YL 6 has got i in one correct German procedure again.

Hummmm - hard one that. I'm sure one of those 4 verbs covers "do it in person", but I'll leave you to guess which.
