Ok, here is a proposal -

Photographing the Oktoberfest

Tuesday the 27th September
Meet 6.30pm
At the Entrance/Exit to the U-Bahn Station at the Oktoberfest

Maybe we could start outside and then go inside some beer halls and get some shots. I was there last night and I think there are some great opportunities.

Just write if you would like to come.
pinky
smile.gif yello all,

hangovers cured?

fest flu fought off?

does anyone feel like meeting up again either next week or the week after?

pinky
Deekay
Am in wink.gif The Oktoberfest was the usual suspect...I think we didn´t really need any excuse about that.

Let´s try to get everybody out of their sleep now and pcik up where we left last time.

DK
mels

pinky
Genie
Sounds good, next week. I'm OK for Monday, Tuesday or Thursday. We need a place now... who want to have us this time? smile.gif
mels
Hi all. sorry for the late reply. i've been busy, but also wanting another meet up. I am due for one at my place. Let's throw around a few dates... 1 idea is that as a group we can go throught the PP site, and instructions for uploading... for those of us who haven't done it yet???

Hope all are well.
pinky
hi all,

thanks mel for volunteering to host us.

okay - monday or tuesday? 17/18?

dee, would you be avail to teach us how to upload photos on the website?

pinky
gills
Are you accepting new members -- someone who's sort of a beginner? I could learn a lot from more experienced photographers, and would love the opportunity!

Here are some of my pictures: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sandyg/
Genie
OK, there has been some mischeif on behalf of ed-bob (I assume), I've completely missed this topic after the old one was closed. I was tracking the previous one but the tracking didn't transfer, so I thought things died out...

I'll send an e-mail to our mailing list... I guess this week is too late, so how about postpone to next week? Again, Monday/Tuesday?
mels
sorry all. i too was very dependent on tracking, which obviously didn't work, as i've gotten no messages. soooooo. too late for tonight (sorry). At this point i am free on Weds. night (the 19th), otherwise, will have to be next week. I'll check back manually. Sorry for the mishap.
mels
Oh yeah, and as for next week, Tuesday would be better for me, but I could be flexible--esp. if we do an
8:00 meeting time again...

Let me know what it will be and I will follow up with my address and directions.

mel
Deekay
hey yeah, what is happening with the thread? I too did not get any new notification...? what is the crossed link all about?
Anyways...even if it would still be okay for me to do something tomorrow (Tuesday), I guess it is too short notice for most people...later this week or next week is fine with me.
Btw, depending on weather, I will probably be doing a "Autumn season" shoot somewhere to capture the wonderful colors on the week-end. I anybody is interested, just let me know.
Mel, thanks for offering your place. we could do it at my place again as well, either is fine with me. Just let me know.
I guess I have to resubscribe to this thread to get notification now?...

And yes, new members are always welcome!

Anyone else interested in meeting up? If tuesday is not good for you, feel free to propose an alternative time.

best,

Mel

Hi folks... I'd like to join if there's room. I've not got much to show for my recent efforts on paper, but lots on a laptop... is that okay? I'd really appreciate some tips on how best to use my cameras... I'm finding the step from digital compact to D-SLR quite a big one!
Deekay
Tuesday sounds great.
Ben, bring your laptop along and your camera ;-) if we don´t manage to meet by then, it would be a good oppotunity to finish our "business" smile.gif
See you all!
DK
vin
unsure.gif Hell!! Gills and DEEKAY!! Seems like you guys have some JAZZY HOTSHOT TOPGUN SUPERZOOM EXTRA HIGH QUALITY AS GOOD AS REAL PIC type of a camera.

I would be venturing into getting a new digicam next month before I head off for my holidays. Could surely use some tips / recommendations.

You guys meeting up again?
Deekay
great. so far we have: Mels, Pinky, Benpanter, Genie, Gills, Vin? and Deekay interested in meeting next week. Anybody else?
Date is Tuesday 25th October, 8pm and place is still to be decided but should be at Mels´ place.
Hope you guys did your homework ;-)
Can´t wait to see you all.
DK

Tuesday isn't looking too good for me... I leave really early Wednesday morning on a business trip. Rats! Is it once a month that you meet?
Genie
Before our fall "break", we were doing once every two weeks. I think that was OK with most of us, and according to people's availability, I guess we'll try to keep that.
mels
my place. 8pm tuesday

Looking forward to seeing you all again.

Hi Mel, I'm confirming too - see you at 8!

Hi just wondering if there is any space for beginners, would be really interested!
Genie
We definately have space for beginners, or non-beginnners, or whatever. Come along to our next meeting and see if you like it.

Next meeting I guess should be at my place, Tuesday in two weeks (8th November), details to be announced shortly...
mels
hi all.

here's an update about the last meeting.

we were: myself, DK, Yishai, Monika, Ben, Marcia.

We had a chance to review the work DK has done on the website. It's looking good. Please try and upload some of your work. If you have questions, contact DK.

Photo themes: Nothing new this time, please continue with last session's themes, which were:
1. break
2. traditional
3. three
4. yellow
5. texture
6. back
7. flesh
8. books
9. food
10. affection

also, continue working on photographing our namesake, and your self-portrait (which should be submitted to DK with your bio for the website).

Upcoming Plans: This weekend, some of us are headed to Herz Jesu Kirche for a photoshoot. Where and when are we meeting? Sat?

Also, the next meeting is scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, November 8th. We toyed with the idea of breaking from tradition, and going out for a meeting. Drinks and photos? What do you think? One possible topic for the next session includes welcoming Shery back (yay!) and asking her to run a pinhole session for us all.

Finally, one last administrative detail... updating our email list. Some new members have filtered in, and I am not sure that we have captured everyone's info. So, PM me if you aren't getting the emails, but want to.

Please post ideas, thoughts, and plans for this weekend.

Thanks,

mel

I'm game for an outing -- but I couldn't read the site as it is all in German. Where is this place and what subway stop is it close to? It looks like a church of some kind?

Thanks
mels
ha ha. my German also sucks ohmy.gif , but here is the address...

Herz-Jesu-Kirche
Romansstraße 6

Hey Guys,

I am interested so put my name down. Does anyone know the best place to meet? What is the closest U-Bahn/S-bahn station?

Marcia
Deekay
It´s the "most modern church in Europe". Very beautiful building and very interesting for architecture photography (did a shot there already).
I´m in too!!
Easiest way is to take the Tram 12 or 16/17 and stop at "Romanplatz". Shall we just meet there at 10am on Saturday?
From my own experience with this place, bring a wide angle lens if you have and a tripod. A flash is not necessary and would kill the atmosphere inside. Let´s also hope for a sunny day. For people with film camera, I would definitely recommend 400ISO minimum...or a lens with great aperture (f2,8 and below).
See you Saturday! please confirm that you are ok with the time and place to meet.
DK
Genie
I'll try to make it too, Saturday at 10:00. Note that they open the large gates Sundays at 19:30, which is too dark for us now. Could be nice in summer, or maybe for some nice night photos, but not worth moving the whole meetup for.

Hope to see you there!
Contemplation
Thanks DK. Where can we get those tram numbers from and in which direction. Sorry, my geographic knowledge of Munich is crap!!
Deekay
No problem wink.gif
- from Karlsplatz or Hauptbahnhof you can take the tram 17 direction "Amalienburgstraße". The stop is called Romanplatz.
- Tram 12 is less convenient, but you can take it from Rotkreuzplatz or Hohenzollernplatz direction Romanplatz.

For more details, just check out MVV and just enter your start point (either address or stop) and your destination.

See ya there!

DK
mels
thanks for the logistical info DK. see you all there at 10:00 tomorrow.

Hi folks, not sure if I will make it or not... I have a clash with a frisbee engagement. Will make my mind up tomorrow morning and possibly find you inside.
Genie
Just checked the weather for tomorrow. 4 out of 5 services say rain, the other one says chance of rain. Do we want to postpone it to some other time? Maybe next week? Sunday is problematic since there would probably be services etc...

What do you say?
mels
I am OK with playing it by ear. if it is not raining when i am ready to head out, i will go ahead and go. How does this sound?
Deekay
I agree with Mel. I´ll check out the sky in the morning and if it doesn´t rain or if it´s not black, then I´ll go. let´s PM. to exchange numbers maybe...Otherwise, I will check the forum before I leave the house at 9:30am.
Rain is not too much of a problem as we will be mostly taking pictures inside. bad lighting is more an issue.
DK

Hey Guys,
It is pretty grey and rainy out North. What is it like in the city?
Marcia
mels
grey, but so far dry.
Contemplation
Thanks Mel,
I have to leave here at 9.00, so if you guys, if possible can let me know if you're going, that would be great.
mels
well, i am going. so far the weather is stable, not sure what it will be like at 10:00, but we can always head inside...
