I can recommend The Green Door.

The Green Door

They are really good there, not to expensive and the majority of the staff speak really good English.

The cheapest places for a leg wax are the beauty schools.
Try Kosmetik Norkauer in the Elisenhof (opp. Hauptbahnhof), tel. 593182. They charge 27€ for a full leg (both legs). Their facials are very good and very very cheap, rubbish opening times though.
If you want a bikini wax there aren't that many places that do anything other than the very basic (i.e. knickers on) ones though. Beauty Spy does as does Cosmo Beauty Agnesstr. 16, 80798 München Tel: 2730015
I do my own though and have a home hot wax cartridge system. I am of course hard as nails. wink.gif

No.
A lot of women are not particularly hairy on their thighs so get a half leg wax which means up to and including the knees from the feet up. You can get a 3/4 wax which is below the knee, knee plus half the thigh (i.e. to stocking length). A full leg is from the foot to the top of the leg, bikini line waxing is always extra (and I'm sure that someone else has done a whole thread about those so do a search). Most places will also include doing the top of the foot/toes if necessary.
That enough info?

Err..I got a VERY painful brazilian at the green door, I believe it was from Eva (very sweet, kept muttering 'weel make it besser, i promise')..anyway, I never have quite recovered from the painful experience, and have scars that have yet to disappear in the nether regions (this was last nov). Might I note it was certainly not my first experience with waxing..I've waxed for 3 years (granted it was always with a roller, this was the first time I'd experienced with her particular wax). I gave her a second chance and came back for a facial, but she used some awful mask that turned my face bright red for over a week... I love it there-very upscale atmosphere, and they're very accomodating to english-speakers, but my experience was pretty bad nonetheless.

I went to the Green Door yesterday for a facial & here is the scoop on it closing:

The blonde lady owner (name starts with an L?) that does the hair removal is moving upstairs in the building so you can still make an appt. The dark haired lady owner (name starts with an R?) that does the facials is going to do them from her home. You can get her number if you call them.

BTW, mine was amazing & no weird red stuff on my face.

Hiya,
My dermatologist, Dr Sabine Anders-Ankerhold, Renatastr. 40, 80634 München
Tel. 089/161805, does laser hair removal and did mine.
She speaks English apparently (but we spoke German), is US-trained (her accreditations are on the wall for all to see) and is a marvel with a laser (she also has a full dermatology and sexually-transitted diseases practice with a specialisation in acne). She also does cosmetic work such as Botox and Restylane, and has experience in the use of Botox for facial ticks.
I personally cannot understand why someone would not go to a doctor for laser treatment, the things are bloody dangerous in an untrained hand.
Small areas cost between 50-75€ a go, a large area such as a lower leg would range from 170-250€ per treatment. 4-5 (if not more) treatments are required and some laser treatment is covered by health insurance. If you are pale with dark unwanted hair you are a good candidate, it doesn't work so well on other skin/hair types.
Now is a bad time to get lasered as you need to stay out of the sun, wear sun block, no plucking, no waxing and shaving only for 6 weeks before and during the full length of the treatment (sessions are about 4-6 weeks apart).
It only stung a tiny, tiny bit with little redness and I think that it is worth it if, and only if, you have the money/patience/willpower to see it through.

PS And as for childbirth, outsourcing is the only option in my opinion...

Hi
I'm breathing new life into this old topic but with very good reason.
Angelica's Beauty Center in the Nymhemburgerstr. (close to Mailingerstr. U-Bahn U1/7) is a beauty and hair salon run by ladies from Brazil. If you've ever wondered where the afro-haired get their hair done in Munich, well this is one of the places. Offering hair extensions, thermal straightening, streads etc they also have a small beauty section (which isn't terribly plush but is clean). Anyway it is staffed by Brazilians so the service is in broken German, some English, Spanish and Portugese. Waxing costs... 45€. For whole leg plus free bikini wax. Yes you read that right.
Virtually pain-free, although the appointment started 20mins late, the lot was over in a record 40mins and no stubble left. So if anyone wants a Brazilian done by a Brazilian, this would be the place to choose (but be prepared to feel very unglamourous in comparision with the ladies that work there as they have those lovely Brazilian looks so was like being a sparrow surrounded by birds of paradise sad.gif ).

Does anyone know where you can buy the material strips for warm waxing at home but without having to buy the wax?
Showem
If you look carefully, you might find a little square packet of strips available for sale on their own in the same area where they sell the wax. How did you manage to get wax and no strips though?
gooner_gal
Have tried Müller, dm, Karstadt, Kaufhof...no separate strips!

A friend of mine asked me to get her some strips when I go to the UK in August as she cannot find them here...I am trying to prove her wrong wink.gif As for the wax with no strips...didn't ask!
Showem
I was just wondering, because maybe your friend doesn't realise they are reuseable? I just looked and have about 11 strips still unused and in the packaging (although the packaging is open) that you/your friend are welcome to have.
gooner_gal
You make it sound as though I say I'm asking for a friend as I don't want to look stupid myself!! lol I have an evil hair puller-outterer machine!

I'm sure she does know they're re-usable. I was just wanting to prove her wrong and tell her that you can get them here. I think she's getting a friend to send some over from the US now. But thanks for the offer anyway smile.gif
Showem
Heh heh, it did cross my mind that that's what it sounded like, but not intentional.
gooner_gal
it's just the typical situation isn't it...my friend this, my friend that! But it truly is a friend that asked! biggrin.gif

I bought my strips for a Babyliss cartridge system in Karstadt, Operpollinger (the household items one).
Go to the top floor and walk to where the shavers and hair dryers are, they will be on the end of an aisle.
Or on ebay or any beauty supply store (there are a few around Sendlingerstr. in the side streets).
"Vlies-Streifen" is the name for them.
You can reuse them and even wash them if you really wanted to (bleurg).
gooner_gal
Thanks for the tip!!! I knew from previous posts, that if anyone would know, you would! biggrin.gif

I have to add a recommendation for Feelgood Salon - both Jana and Krista are equally marvelous and speak english. I go for waxing and its as pain-free and hassle-free as it can be (though obviously its always going to hurt). Also the price is amazing (just over 20 euro) - especially compared to the London rip-off prices im used to...
Katrina
Now I go to Krista too - and I'm a very happy customer.
Didsbury's Daftest
A sign that caught my attention recently...I wonder why ph34r.gif : "Lass Waxen statt Wachsen". Senzera have recently opened their new beauty salon on Kurfürstenstrasse (No.69). ( http://www.senzera.de/senzera_rasurtortur.htm )
