Traffic offence lawyers - Munich

I know there is a page on lawyers on Toytown, but most of them seem to be tax or business related. Can someone recommend a lawyer for car accidents? Basically have a friend who rolled into the back of a car. Both got out, agreed that everything is fine and no information was exchanged nor were police called. Now 10 days later, he got a letter from the insurance company saying he is getting sued for 1200 € worth of damage.

specialist law firms will be hard to find on the net as german law prevents them advertising except under special cases and they have to adhere to all sorts of standards. one English speaking firm I know of is

but they are more business and tax but if you contact Astrid she may be able to point you in the right direction for an english speaker that can deal with car damage.

As far as I know one of the best for car damage law is Dr Hintermayer und Kollegen Residenz 27 (behind the lions at Odeanz platz) telephone is 2199990, They represent some of the large car rental firms with claims. But this firm I dont think they speak English.

Sadly this is an all too familiar problem. I've fallen foul of this myself. I realise its too late for your friend but in future if any of you ever have an accident here, always call the police, even if it appears clear cut. There's a good reason you always see people stood around there cars, not moving them until the police come. Most people have a legal insurance here and some of them will try it on knowing it won't cost them anything.

Good lawyers normally aren't cheap. But it might help if you mentioned the area of expertise you were hoping to be covered by said cheap, good lawyer.

I know a very good lawyer in Munich. He helped me with important financial issues.

You can find good. You might find cheap(er). You cannot find both in one. You need to be a bit more specific about what kind of lawyer you're looking for.

I'm in trouble with road traffic police.

I had a bit of an accident (wasn’t my fault), and now the police and the other party are after me...

To be honest I don't understand any of what’s going on as my German isn’t so great. So I really need a lawyer I can communicate well with

Call the consulate. Btw, the police should have told you you have this right, especially because you don´t speak German.
One of the duty of the consulate is to assist citizens in these cases.
Another advantge is everyone is careful when dealing with a foreign citizen represented by the consulate.
