I call bullshit on the whole list.

Some folks are obviously on some kind of trip. I mean NOBODY gets that much +

I formally propose that with the current system being abused and generally maligned, that Editor Bob call a moratorium on further karma, start the whole thing from scratch and open it up so we can see who is playing fair and... well, not playing fair.

I have only sent karma via "the button" three times (all pos) but decided to not participate again outside sending mental karma. I choose not to participate because it to me it is a bit like high school and I do not want to relive high school. I also do not use the ignore button. Have fun for those who are still joining in on Karma though.

I opted out soo long ago that it said the feature to opt out was being worked on. I was out, I was in and then I was out again. It almost felt like sex.

As for the karma givers, I don't want to see who and what they give karma to and for. To make it balanced, one only needs to see the +/- numbers that they actually give in conjunction with their actual +/- karma rating they have. I think that the "give karma" numbers would do a lot more to make the field fair. I do suspect certain people of giving negative karma intentionally and excessively. I think that the negative karma givers should be revealed. Contrary to (some) opinion, these anal retentives hurt more than they help.

I like the fact, I cannot see who or what gave me +ve or -ve karma, and they cannot see how I graded them... I am very selective in my karma- a good post or funny post gets +ve, and post that disturbes me or I totally disagree with, I sent -ve karma! I wouldn't be so free with my Karma's if I knew they could see me, as it only creates bad feelings and -ve karma.

And to those that say- all the people on top are 'connected', let me tell you, I am so not connected, and have been on top, I am just honest, and well, don't let the rating effect what I say.

And that has been a message on Karm from Carm. Has a nice ring too it.

Good to see the new log list. Provides some very interesting insight as to how people are using the system.

But sad to see the per post list go, that was the main point I thought. Oh well, since theres only a per user list now I guess karma MUST be a per user thing rather than a per post thing.

Get rid of the per user list, as it turns the whole thing into a popularity contest. (Keep per user karma as an internal variable of course though)

Bring back the per post karma list, but with an important change, include the misc and random posts. After all, if people are wanting to read the funniest, most interesting, or most controversial posts, they are in misc and random chat, and it would be good to find them easily by looking for the posts with the most extreme positive or negative karma.

@Bubbles - that very comment in fact attracted a flurry of negative karma - which shows what a load of bullshit this system is, I mean what the fuck is there to dislike or like about a one line remark?

Gasp..I'm actually in the positive Karma range now and quite frankly I don't like it very much.

Some are pretty easy to work out though - the positive and negative.
You just look for the matches, people tend to go repeatedly for the same log-ins.
The ban on karma being sent to those posts more than 4 days old has probably stopped some of the more, erm, specific voting though.

Am I daft? I don't understand how the Anon(#) are given. Is each individual allocated a number or do they change?

Number refers to the duration of the karma - last person to award karma will get anon1 , 2nd last anon2 etc so u can see ur own karma giving history by awarding a post karma and then checkin the log file quickly...

They change - so the numbers of the karma givers will always alter - you can see me messing about with it - karma awarded to parnell, me and yeti all in very short order, but all returning an error message was me messing about with the system...'my' number will change as more karma is awarded or taken away.

I got given negative Karma by someone for posting the What was No.1 on the day you were born?, Hit or Miss?? thread, I mean sure women kissing, I can see that would be a bit offensive. But, posting a link gets me negative karma? Ha! ITS A FUCKING INTERNET FORUM!!!

Thanks to Editor_Bob for making the Karma thing a little more transparent.

So one of my suggestions was that the karma system be started over once it's all finally decided on. Myself and a few others have loads of negative from back when it started and everyone could dole it out indefinitely and there were no limits set up. Now that there are limits, it should be restarted. I suggested this, but Editor Bob said no, it will all wash out in the end. Well, I don't think this is the case, because the plain fact that mine has been hovering around the same number for some time now means that just as many people dislike me as like me. Therefore, if that is true, it will always just hover around the same large negative number and never change. How then does it wash out? Statistics don't mean jack if they're biased from the beginning.

Oh parnell, you just have too many haters to pick from!
I'm not one of them and my karma voting is relatively rare and rather specific, people who know me at all well will work it out if they are that bothered

why not have a weekly karma rating? gets wiped every sunday night. that way no-one ends up too far ahead or behind

That's not the point. Those, like myself, with large negative numbers were probably put there by a handful of people when they could just sit there clicking the button over and over (except MarcusBlair and islander, since it's quite obvious that everyone hates them).
