Is there a "send PM" button somewhere?

Whenever I want to send a PM, I find that I have to look up the person I want to send it to and click on the appropriate link in their profile. Is there a "send PM" button somewhere else that I'm missing? It'd be much easier to just click on this and type in their username than have to search out one of their posts in order to send them a PM.

about 3cm underneath each username next to their posts it says "PM"

Schotte, the point is I don't want to have to look up users' posts.

I am with you there IPJ. Would love a button that says "Create PM" or something when in my PM Control Centre.

Er... there is. Go to the button in the corner that normally says "0 New Messages". That takes you to your inbox. From there, look to the left side and look for the line that says "Compose New Message". Click that and bingo bongo, you are ready to send a PM once you insert the appropriate name.

Funny, you know I've looked there for it about a million times, and I never saw it. I think I skipped over it every time, because it looks like it's the name for a 'folder' containing the 'inbox', 'sent items' and 'saved PMs' icons. Odd.

I'm confused as to what other way there is to do it other than what Showem has described? Unless I want to PM directly from a post that is the only way I know how?! Maybe I am missing out

I normally click on "Send a Personal Message" in their profile.

You can also do a search on the username and then click the resulting link which says "send a message".

Eg: search interplanetjanet

And why does searching interplanetjanet bring up a link for this page?

@EB - Yeah, that's what I normally do, but it seemed too much of an effort (lazy me). Glad I know the link is in my controls now.

Thanks IPJ and Showem. I've wondered this many a time as well.
It does indeed look like a heading/title because of the different font. Also, PM's are usually refered to as PM's, not 'messages', so the change in syntax is a tad confusing.

One thing to note about searching for a username, then clicking on 'send PM' is that the searches are viewable under the Xtras function.. so if it bothers you that one can see what has been searched for, then you may want to be careful of this.
