Just so everyone knows, the points against are only those scored on the defense. So scores from intercepts don't count - which is the option I chose because it's pretty hard for the defensive team to stop a score when they're all sitting on the bench...

They can always send out good vibes... rolleyes.gif
PES
More are onboard.. (12)

PES
missing only one now...

Hazza
I sent out the invite to a work colleague.

He's American and keen to play and will be at The Arc on Draft day.

We have a league!!
PES
Thanks Hazza for all your time and effort.
PES
And then there were 14!
Play ball!

3 Lions
Is there anyway to change my name on the league line up to a team name? I want to continue with my Löwenbrau (3) Lions tag!
Joliet Jake
@3Lions: From the home page, choose "Options" - "Personal".

I think I have found a TTFFL trophy at my local Goodwill. Possibly new arc owner might be interested in displaying it there.
eurovol
Fuck you and your trophy. I am putting together a TTFL Football trophy that is made of a keg. I mentioned this months, years ago and I think this year would be perfect. wink.gif

Hazza-

Are we drawing cards on 5 Aug or is the draft order at the following site legit ?
http://munich.football.sportsline.com/print/help/rules

JC
Hazza
We're drawing cards on the day for the draft order...That order you linked to is the order in which the invites were sent out. So hardly random

Also, any suggestions for changes regarding rules for pick ups, trades, waiver policy, etc. then let us know. I had a thought that it might be good for every player to be on waivers on Mondays. So as not to be unfair on people who can't log in first thing on Monday to get back-ups of players injured on the weekend, etc.

There won't be a designated tight-end - more people are against it than for it. So a team will consist of:

1 QB
1 RB
2 WR/TE
1 RB/WR/TE
1 K
1 D

What's the roster size? Should we go with 14 again?
canuck
I'd say 13 or 14.
3 Lions
I'd go with 13, possibly 12. I dunno if the latter seems a little on the tight side, but I know from previous experience that I've had spots on the roster that have done nothing but sit there all year. With 12 in the squad, I'm guessing we'll see more trading/pick ups going on?

In fact, I'm gonna say 12, I think 14 is too many and the last two picks are pretty much picking up dregs that will never score you anything. Unless some have a bye week early, do you really need a backup DEF or K?
perdido
I say 14
PES
14 is okay with me.
Hazza
I agree with 3 Lions. I think a smaller list is better. It means that you have to think a little more about who to keep and also ensures that there'll regularly be reasonable players available on waivers.

Speaking of which - any comments on my waivers idea?

How early Monday? Yes, it is good idea. Are we allowed unlimited waivers?
Joliet Jake
Waivers are a must...especially when a certain defending champion is sitting on the US West Coast watching the late games while we're all sleeping. cool.gif

I would actually set up a 1 day waiver period every day. That gives everyone a fair shot at picking up a free agent or picking up someone that another team dropped the day before. I'm fine with unlimited waiver claims each week since you'll be moved to the back of the waiver list once you make a claim. The other decision to be made is whether the waiver order will reset each week based on the reverse order of the standings or whether the order stays consistent week to week. I prefer the latter, which is consistent with past years.
PES
Christ, JJ. huh.gif It's not even 8:00 yet. You gave me a headache... mad.gif
Joliet Jake
Sorry PES. I guess I should have responded with "I don't care" laugh.gif
Hazza
My thought with not working off waivers all the time is because I think it would be good to be able to still pick up those players nobody wants without wasting your waiver position. If you're heading into a bye week and you just need any kicker, for example. So I would be in favour of having maybe 1 day (Wednesday, maybe) when free agents are just that and the only players on waiver lists are those who have just been dropped by another player.
Courchene
I have a slight preference for a 12 man roster, but can live with 14.
If we go to 12, I think waivers are a must at all times (to be fair).

Positives of 12 man roster
It would increase the size of the available waiver/FA pool of players (by 28 players)
It would generally increase the number of waiver/FA moves
It could generally increase the number of trades
It might prevent 'healthy' teams from acquiring players just to prevent their opponents from improving

Negatives of 12 man roster
It could necessitate that people submit their waivers by the deadline every Monday (people who travel a lot might have added difficulty).
A shorter roster would make injuries more painful (especially if the team wanted to carry a gimp until his return)
mere
Today the Packers report to training camp. The first practice is tomorrow and they have 8 evening practices schedule throughout camp (no clue why that's significant, but NPR mentioned it so just passing it on) smile.gif
Joliet Jake
@Hazza, to be clear on the waiver process, I think players should only be on waivers for a day, but that any player that becomes available is on waivers for at least a day.

Here's an example:
  • All free agents (any player not already on a team roster) are frozen at game time.
  • All free agents remain on waivers throughout Tuesday. On Tuesday, Perdido puts in a waiver claim for Michael Vick, dropping Tony Romo. 3 Lions puts in a waiver claim for Michael Vick, dropping Jim Sorgi. Eurovol puts in a waiver claim for Frank Gore, dropping Reggie Bush.
  • Based on waiver order, Perdido and Eurovol get their waiver claims. 3 Lions does not. Perdido and Eurovol go to the back of the waiver queue.
  • On Wednesday, the only players on waivers are Tony Romo and Reggie Bush, since they were just dropped on Tuesday. 3 Lions can pick up Joey Harrington and drop Jim Sorgi and his waiver order will not change. If he puts in a winning claim for Reggie Bush, then he would move to the end of the waiver order.

You can then be strategic about whether you use a waiver or wait a day for the free agent free-for-all.
These are the settings that give you that configuration:
Joliet Jake
Regarding roster size, how about if we have a 12-round draft and a 13 man roster? Each team would have one free agent they can pick up between the draft and the start of the season to complete their team.

Just to, you know, complicate things unnecessarily.
PES
Sounds good.
PES
See ya all in a week! biggrin.gif
canuck
@JJ: What would happen then if say me and you pick the same 13th free agent to round out our team. Would we arm wrestle for it??
Joliet Jake
Arm wrestling is so yesterday. All disputes should be resolved with dog fights. My bloodthirsty hellion is chomping at the bit.
Hazza
OK - it's draft week!!

So I think we've got the scoring system worked out. It's posted on this thread, but you must be able to see it on the CBS website as well.

13 roster size, with 12 to be drafted sounds good.

Not yet sure how the waiver system works, but that shouldn't affect draft picks, so I'll ask JJ to explain it to me again on Sunday and make a decision then.

The Arc opens at midday on Sunday, so let's get there as soon as possible after that time to enable the draft to start as early as possible. I suggest a €5 penalty for everyone who arrives after 12:30pm (to go into the prize pool), just to encourage punctuality.
Courchene
12:30pm ?
I thought we were starting at 14:00.

Good thing I checked the Discussion Forum...

It might be worth a reminder email to all teams...
Hazza
Yes...you're right.

I can send e-mails to everyone through the CBS site, so will do that tonight
3 Lions
I'll be there for 12pm, I want my Arcburger early. With the closure of GM's, I'm sure that The Arc has already picked up some of its business and I'm expecting a fair few to show up for the football at 4pm, so its in our interests to start earlier.
Hazza
OK - I sent e-mails explaining what's going on.
perdido
I am still having problems logging in.
PES
I found it easy.
Courchene
I can only guess that the lack of trash talking and witty banter over the days leading up to the draft means that...
... you are all busy trying to figure out how to beat the Famunda Cheese this year... tongue.gif
PES
§*[! you!
Courchene
that's not trash talkin' that's just a potty mouth...
but I enjoyed it anyway...

bring it!
Joliet Jake
Never underestimate the Cheese. It takes a lot of skill and targetted knowledge to be able to draft each and every player who will fail to make it to opening day before being cut, injured or jailed.
eurovol
I have been soo busy that I have only now started to work on my draft sheets.

*That means I googled and printed and will look at them on Sunday morning*
3 Lions
I've done my usual preperation, I've picked 5 of my starting XI, no idea who to put in goal or play up front? sad.gif

Hey! I resemble that remark !!!
Couldn't happen 2 years in a row, though...
