Because you never paid me the entry fee last year...
yeah that is true. will give it to you when i see you.
what does my bad memory have to do with not being in this year? i would like to join this year as usual. what is the consensus of the league?
It is okay with me so long as I get your first pick.

geeza- ok with me as long as you are paid in full prior to the draft
Hazza
Jul 18 2007, 3:33 pm
OK -you can play if you give me the money for last year and this year on draft day.
Sorry for being so harsh, but I've run a lot of comps for various sporting events (cricket, rugby, Aussie Rules, various World Cups, etc) over the years and non-payment normally leads to exclusion for subsequent comps. Mainly because I've had to cover for these people or explain to the winners why they wouldn't receive the full prize money.
Exclusion becomes easier than chasing people.
So Hazza, the are we keeping the league at 14?

I say keep it at 14, anymore is too many. RB's are scarce enough as it is.
I agree, I just thought Hazza had two at work that wanted to join?

Michael Vick has been indicted. I'm surprised the Feds didn't wait until after Courchene drafted him!

no i can understand the sentiment. tardiness of paying not intentional, both will be paid by new draft day

Are we defnitely going for the 5th August at 2pm? cos the FA Charity Shield kicks off at 4pm on that day and I doubt if we would want the noise of the football going on in the background?
I have no desire to watch Man U v Chelsea, but then again, I dont want to be shouting over a pub full of fans either.

I could make it at 12:00 or 1:00, but I drive 3 hours to get there. Last year the draft flew along and didn't seem to take longer than 2 hours? I may be wrong.

I know that the date is pretty much set, but a week earlier and I could be there. I will be sailing that weekend.
I have made plans for all other weekends, so it is the 5th for me. Also, if we are bent on keep the league at 14, by my count we are already there (or very close).

So what are all the outstanding issues, I only saw a request for defensive point allow score change and a defined TE spot. Are there any other outstanding issues?
I am against the TE introduction. But I'll go with the consensus.

i haven't been meaning to ignore this. I really would like to play, but since i've yet to find a proxy i'm most likely out. i have one more person to try to convnice... if you could just be patient for another day or so i'll let you know.

About the dedicated TE spot, I could see the reasoning behind as quite a few of us lost games by just a couple of pts last year and a TE could make all the difference. Then again, I like how its worked the last couple of years, so I'm gonna say lets keep it as it is. What the hell do I know anyway, I'm just a Rookie still!
Joliet Jake
Jul 19 2007, 5:50 pm
@3Lions - Not a rookie
There are always going to be games decided by just a couple of points. Having TEs will not stop that.

That would be me. Yes, in this day and age, keeping a team under two TDs is actually good. Remember, when both teams score less than 20 points it is called a defensive game. I would say the points start to get shaved off at 13 and not before. I would deduct more for scores of 14, 21, 28 and 35 as they represent TDs. Scores of 17, 20, 23, 27 and 30 means the defense stopped the TD. There should be big fat zeros for scores of 31 and above that the negatives come in. Last year some of the defense scores were outrageous to the extremes.

Are you suggesting something along the lines like
touchdowns = -4
field goals = -1
extra point blocks = 1
extra point = -.5
2 pt conversion = -1
and then having a starting score like 10 or so?

I'm taking Culpepper again this year...don't you dare even think of drafting him. Trent Green, I don't think so...

I heard Vick and his 10000000 rushing yards last year is really good as well, might draft him too.

Crouchjay has confirmed. So the last spot is either Mere or BirdBrain. Mere has until the weekend to find a proxy, otherwise BirdBrain is in. It is only fair to allow the previous years entrants first choice - anyone disagree?
And charity shield or not, I think we'll be fine for the draft. I will talk to Keith about opening at noon, so that we can get there then and start the draft as soon as possible.
As far as TE's go - looks like we won't go with them at this stage and if anyone has suggestions for defensive stats, then please post them and we can think about this over the next week or so.

I'm withdrawing my name. I have other leagues to run and to participate in that don't require bending over. By the way there shouldn't be any reason to have to pay for a league. Both ESPN and CBS have full stat-tracker for free this year. Hope you guys have a good time!!!

OK - suit yourself. Obviously there are a limited number of spots available in this league. I have allowed those people involved last year first option this year. I gave those people involved last year until this weekend to confirm their participation.
I don't really understand why you think this is not a fair way to do this.
Plus, I see now that jml is still in the confirmed list, although she has actually pulled out. So there is actually a spot open for BirdBrain if he's interested. If not, there's a guy I work with who would like to play.

I don't think we should add the TE-only spot, I think we should leave it like last year...even though I had Gates last year and could have used it.
I think BirdBrain was pissed that Beaver got in, others took a long time to commit, and then he thought he may not get a place. Sometimes we write things after a beer to many. I know.

Jul 20 2007, 1:51 pm
BirdBrain doesn't get pissed about something so trivial as a FFL. BirdBrain was just withdrawing his name. I have many other long standing leagues to participate in this year. I thought it would be a great way to get to know some of you better.Which I accomplished without ever entering the league it appears. Once more ...Have a great time!!

well then, you would realise that previous year's entrants get first choice. I would think you'd be pretty pissed off if a newcomer to the league took your spot prior to the deadline for continuing in one of your long-standing leagues had arrived.
So I'm still not sure where the "bending over" comment was about. Maybe you could explain that one to me...

Considering your response to it, I think you have a good grasp of its meaning. I think we can say the issue is closed. It is rather trivial anyway. Nothing to get pissed about...lol Once again have a great season!!

I have also registered and paid for the CBS site.
For all those taking part, please PM me your e-mail addresses, so that I can enter them in the site and get it to send you invites.
There's a fair bit of news on the site with news and hints. So the sooner I get your e-mail address, the better for you.
