Most are lying. However, most only pay for one of each and then have several. Not me, I pay for all of them hones I do.

You only have to pay once, not for each bloody TV.
I voluntarily paid the radio fee, didn't have a TV at the time. Then I got a TV, had it for a while, then got caught by a
GEZ guy at the door and now pay the TV fee too.

Naw, told him my boyfriend brought it with him when he moved in a month before. True about the boyfriend moving, not true about when the TV arrived. He really pushed on the point of when I got it, but I stuck with my story and nothing, just registered to pay the fee.

We got caught too...and lied about when we got the TV. It was just after we moved into our new flat...and yes they knew we had just moved her...and no we had not done the KVR bit yet (so still unclear as to how they knew!). Tom went ahead and said it was a wedding present...so we had to pay retroactive fees But he was under pressure with the guy breathing down his neck so I forgave him

last time I lived here, I didn't pay, but this time I got hit as soon as I stepped off the plane it seems! SO, I am paying, we have cable in my building, and I try not to think about it as a bill, but just another cost of living here! I have choosen to live here, so play by their rules.

They showed up at my door once, about two weeks after I returned their letter saying I didn't have anything (radio or tv). But he said who he was when he rang the bell downstairs, so I turned off the tv and let him in. At the time I was single and my kiddo was just toddling around so I told him we only had a baby cassette player, that I didn't believe in television and did he want to see it? Strangely enough he let me off. Might have been the gingham dress I just happened to be wearing.
When BF moved in we registered the radio, but have not registered the tv, especially since it doesn't work. Maybe someday when we get cable or a digibox or something.
Besides - what right does the government have knowing what access to information I have ? Just like declaring my religion. None of their business.

I went for a while with absolutely nothing but started to get paranoid when one
GEZ letter after another arrived. So I signed up for radio, but the paranoia didn't stop there. I realized I couldn't go on any longer living in fear so I finally just gave in and now I'm a model citizen.

Hmm... I've lived in my current apartment for 7 months now, and no letters, and no shady characters at the door (I've done all the KVR stuff as well).
Then again, I don't have a TV, or radio - can they check by the signal if an apartment dweller is "on the airwaves" so to speak? In other words, the day I do get a TV, plug it in, and start watching, can I then expect letters and shady co.? Or am I just lucky to be under the radar so far?

I don't have a TV cluttering up the flat. But, we do pay the Radio License.

I thought that the license was per person. Meaning: One person, two televisions, you pay the same fee. Two persons, one television, you both have to pay the fee. Normally you receive three letters, with each one becoming more threatening. If you answer them negatively, they may pay a visit. If you throw them away, they don't come by...not always.
