Environmental problems in Munich

Can you name them?

Talking to my wife today I was thinking about why the environment here is so bad,.

Two environmental problems stand out.

1. Mobile phone masts.

2. Air pollution or Feinstaub.

Any more you can think of?
mightypies
Pardon my small mindedness, but how does a mobile phone mast interrupt the environment?

Ok, feinstaub you can either smell, inhale unnoticeably, see or somehow otherwise notice. How can a mobile phone mast affect you?

Is the environment so bad here ?

@Mightypies, are you part of the environment? Do you want another arm to grow out of your forehead (as handy as that may be)?

@Timmeh:

Obviously not. Like I meant to say above, I'm 'enviroment-awareness-challenged'. I'm not asking this to be a tit, but out of honest curiosity. If you don't want to answer, or answer like a prat, be my guest. I'm not sure how a mast can affect me. I've not seen one, but I'm not sure they could be in the same ballpark, league or sport as diesel truck pollution, for example.

Well, the phone masts supposedly might slightly increase the chances of you getting cancer. Pollution is certainly a problem in any city, but I think the Feinstaub controversy was settled by the fact that the limits that Munich was "exceeding" was so low that nowhere achieved them. Munich's air quality falls within WHO guidelines. I wouldn't say that the environment here is "so bad", I think it's pretty good as far as million-cities go.

Probably more army than handy.

Settle down now Mr Crowe, I wasn't meaning to offend.
No I wouldn't put them in the same ballpark as diesel fumes for your health, but there would be no way I would want a mast in my backyard, or on top of my building either, all those microwaves (or whatever they are) being aimed at your household...scary
mightypies
Understandable. Didn't think the masts gave out microwaves, understood them to receive more than they give. Anyway.

Mr. Crowe! Had the phone ready and all!

There seems to be a lot of interest by environmentalist in my area concerning the local tree frogs. Apparently, the travel pattern to the local pond, crosses several major roads, which has prompted volunteers to set up plastic barriers on the roadsides to catch them. The barriers are checked nightly and the little frogs are carried across the road by these crazy people in orange vests. Seems a little strange to me.

You are going to get a lot more "Feinstaub" in your lungs in your local pub in an evening than you will hanging out on Mittlerer Ring all day.
