Hello TT'ers,

last weekend I was on tour again and found a delightful little hill in Pfaffenwinkel called "Hohenpeissenberg". The views are really lovely overlooking the Alps and the good thing about it is that all the lazy bones on the forum can simply drive up by car. One can also walk up or cycle up the hill.

The top of the hill houses a pilgrimage church, a beergarden overlooking the alps and a meteorological observatory (the oldest weather station in the world). Here you can see a map telling you how to get here.

It takes about an hour by car to get there. Go on a sunny day, that way you can fully enjoy the views.

If I recall correctly, its only a few miles further to the bridge across the Lech gorge near Shongau ?

You sure know your way around. smile.gif Yes, that's the place! The weather wasn't so good when I went there, only some of the mountains were visible. But on a sunny day you have a clear view of all the Bavarian Alps. The drive itself is already a scenic recommendation, the whole area is utterly picturesque. I could imagine doing the trip on a bike, that would be even nicer than sitting in a car.
