I have been debating for the last few months whether or not to block another poster. The person is a frequent poster and I have to read the posts, as they are within almost every thread. However, I have never agreed and I personally think that the post are always off the mark. My problem is that when I block them, then I can not see what they write, but I would like to take it one step further. I would like that they could not read what I wrote as well. Is there a way to do a block with a block reversal? Just an idea...

PM them and ask them to block you...it could be the start of a beautiful friendship.

brokenm - I hope its not me, but in any event, I do understand what you feel. I think we all have our bete noirs on this site. For what its worth, I think your issue is a microcosm of this thing we call "social interaction".

You read every post in every thread? I find that I can quite easily just not read posts from the many infamous idiots subscribing to the board. My eyes just dance lightly over the post onto the next without so much as a pause.
However, I find it good to read the posts from people I dislike once in a while. Sometimes you meet them in person and they are quite nice and reasonable and you have to read their posts again to remind yourself why you hate them.
I generally don't believe in blocking people. I tried once blocking everyone that I couldn't stand and then realized that the site was blank and that I couldn't even see my own posts anymore.

Touchy topic.
Female TT-rs we don't like. That's a bit close to the bone, but hats off to you. You strike me as a genuine person who wears heart on sleeve.
Anyhoo, I do advise that you just treat this board like school, or the office. There is a dickhead quota at every level of social interaction. The only way to avoid it is by going to Detroit. (I love that Kentucky Fried Movie line!)
But then you would have to start asking questions of yourself; e.g. "why can't I deal with it?" You are definitely bigger than that. Even I can tell, and I have never met you, and will never meet you in person.

No it is not any of you. It is someone I assume that is loved by many, but for some reason or other I just can not understand where she (clue) is coming from with her posts. It is not that she posts rude, or hotly debated points, it is just thather arguments run in circles while everyone else continues, she only writes what she did before. I feel that every post I read of hers, that she is trying to argue with everyone, and personally I find this pessimistic view depressive. So I don't want to read her posts (she is the only blocked person by me), maybe that is enough as I don't need to read her comments concerning my posts. But I would wish for something even more separable, that is why I wanted to know if it were possible.
I think you have just given it away with that post!!

Hm, as soon as you posted this, I assumed you were referring to me, since we always disagree. But as I'm an optimist and don't make circular arguments (as you edited out above), I see now that you can't be.

brokenm, it is none of my business who you ignore and who you don't but I can say one thing-- Toytown is just another damn forum without Interplanetjanet.
Is there a difference between ignoring and blocking?

One day someone will invent a device where we can block people in real life too. Ahhh. Bliss.
I can think of so many managers and co-workers I would have enjoyed putting a big fat block on.

Dude dont let it get you down ... if she's that bothered by you it just means she wants to sleep with you - I have the same problem with most of the female posters here - I went to a shrink and had the whole thing explained to me.
