Dental insurance and the 10 year rule - Germany

Who keeps 10 years of dental records!?

napalongcasidy
I just got dental insurance thru my work. Of course I must pay part of the dental bill. I just learned that the part I pay is reduced a HUGE amount (80% I think) IF IF IF I can produce proof of 10 years of continuous visits to the Dentist!! Amazingly I got my last 14 years from my last insurnace except 2003. No Problem you say - I have 13 years. Ahhh - the key word here is CONTINUOUS!!! Because of that 1 year I must pay 400% more!!! I tried everything to establish proof (I paid cash, lost Dentist, no longer at address).

The same is true for my wife. We paid cash that year for everything! Has anyone had experience with this? Can they "skip" a year for a good reason?

Insurance companies are pretty picky when it comes to continious prophylactic treatment. Did you detect those cash payments from your Income tax? If so, then you might have copies in your old tax forms.

Unfortunately, they do need proof! Its very common, I personally get an additional 5 percent a year more, if I need no treatment and get them checked once a year and cleaned. So I do it myself, get one of the doctors to sign it, and if I ever need a crown or anything, I will be okay!

What do you mean by do it yourself?

Don't think the insurance companies will look too kindly on me, I've been to the dentist once in the last 14 years.

Crowns you have to pay for yourself anyway

Just another example of the scam that is dentistry. It beats me how they get the insurance companies to pay for these 6 monthly checks, can you imagine going to the doctor every 6 months just so you can keep up your insurance?
