Musician - New to Munich

How to hook up with other musicians here

Hi everyone,

I'm new here and wanted to introduce myself. Just moved to Munich from Dublin a few weeks ago. Originally from Baltimore, but have been living in Europe for some years now (England & Ireland). I've been settling in reasonably well I guess (notwithstanding the ticket I got last week from the bicycle police - €25!) but I have noticed I am starting to crave some contact with my own, so was very pleased to find this site. In particular, I like to make music (play guitar, sing) and wondered if there were any musicians among you or if anyone had some tips for finding other musicians (who play enlgish-speaking music) ? Does Munich have open-mic nights / singer songwriter clubs / or even pubs where people sit around the tables and play music (e.g. irish trad sessions)?

In any case hope to meet some of you soon in person at one of the upcoming events.

I haven't read the above links but there is a small bar in Neuhausen - Rotkreutzplatz - called 'Hide Out' and they used to have a 'jammin' session each Thursday night. I believe that anyone could turn up with their instrument and join in.

The Shamrock Irish pub (Trautenwolfstrasse 6, Schwabing) now has jam sessions/open mike on Monday evenings. I haven't gone along yet, so don't know the format nor the standard.
