I am looking at booking a hotel for Sept 10-12th. The hotel is new and is opening up in August - here is the link to the hotel

hotel website

Here is a map of where it is located. It seems like it is next to a dock and am wondering if it is a nice area or not - or noisy etc...

Or if any of you know of a hotel that will accom 3 adults in 1 room for less than 100 euro - that would be helpful as well. I have several around the 130-150 range, but am really looking or something less than 100 euro.
Thanks

I used to work there (well at Georges Quay just down the way a block) It's an OK area, the best bit is the Meth Clinic nearby, so a few wasted junkies, but that's kinda hard to avoid in Dublin. It'll take you about 10-15 mins to walk to O'Connell St, and about the same to Grafton St. It's not in a really busy area, so you shouldn't have noise problems there, be warned, the Liffey is whiffey in summer.

Try one of the Jury's Inn hotels in Dublin.
They are a hotel chain that should suit you. Last time I stayed in one was a few years ago but they charged € 75 a room and then you can put as many people as you want in.
The ones in Christchurch or Custom House would probably be most convenient for you for the city centre.

I have already booked - and I did book with Jury Inn Christ Church. Thanks for the info - but just to give an update - their standard rate is 130-160 euro there - they do show specials of 95, but of course never exist smile.gif

I guess I'm a bit late, but I stayed at the Abbey Court hostel on Bachelor's Walk right near O'Connoll a few years back, and it was 65 squid a night for two of us in a private room with a double bed. Wasn't too bad either.

I'm heading to dublin tomorrow and would love any last minute travel tips and suggestions as to where to go... I'm already going to temple bar, staying at a hostel just outside of there and going on a guiness factory tour... what else needs/can be done in four days

keeping in mind I want to be intoxicated the entire time~

Go to the Guinness outlet store on Grafton Street. They've got a very good sale on at the moment. Lots of top notch branded kit for low prices.

You should go for a pint in the Dawson Lounge, smallest pub in Ireland. And close by you also have Café en Seine for a bit of Schicky-Mickery.

I'd get bored with the city over four days. Consider taking a trip to Johnny Fox's pub. Highest pub in Ireland (although that's debated). Check their gallery and then look here and see they swiped a photo from my website.

DublinPubScene is a good website for nightlife & entertainment info.

If you want to do something healthy, get the Dart (bit like the S-Bahn) out to Greystones and do the cliff walk back to Bray. It's a beautiful walk along the coast. Once you get out at Greystones, just go to the shore and keep walking north (it's harder to find the starting point from Bray). You would need to check with someone regarding the state of the walk. I know it was officially closed for a while - though that didn't stop anyone in practice from doing it.

@keydeck what exactly is Schicky-Mickery I should have asked you about ireland on tuesday, damn!

In Munich the kind of bars where the people who want to be seen as being up-market frequent are referred to as being a bit schicki-micki. Irish people are often referred to in a derogatory sense as Micks (Paddys, potato munchers, etc, etc). So put the two together and you get a touch of Schicky-Mickery.

Bewleys hotels are good too, all rooms cost €99 at all times:

Aston Hotel is just round the corner from Temple Bar and so is much more reasonably priced. I stayed there a few years ago. It was quite new at the time and was half the price of the hotels in Temple Bar. Would stay there again.

Hello, I would like to spend a few days in Dublin this summer - does anyone have a recommendation for a nice bed&breakfast? Or, which would be even nicer: does anyone know somebody in Dublin whose flatmate is going to be away at the end of july and would like to rent out his/her room? Thanks! rolleyes.gif

Hi Mlaemmer, thank you for your recommendation! the hotel really does look nice, it would be great to stay there. Just had a look at flights though and as they are more expensive than I expected them to be I think I should look for a cheaper accommodation. sad.gif
Does anybody know if something like private letting of rooms for a few days does exist in Ireland or is anyone living in Dublin on this forum who happens to have a spare room he/her would like to rent out ? I will be going on my own and I am not a complicated person rolleyes.gif
