Whilst still recovering from a twisted ankle, I have now gone and pulled my Achilles tendon. I know a good sports doctor, but the waiting time is usually insane for an appointment, so I thought I'd ask about if anyone has had experience with a podiatrist here?

I'm not sure what a podiatrist is, but personally I would just go to a normal Krankengymnast (god, I've forgotten what that is in English) or orthopaedist. Therapie 54 on Prinzregentenstr. are my recommendation: see

I went to my normal orthopede in the end. They also do the German national ski team, so I figure they must have a clue what they are doing. Don't know if exactly why, perhaps that I'm on private insurance now, but I phoned up, had an appointment for 3 hours later. Went down, didn't wait a second before being called and being seen immediately by the doctor. Looks like a small tear, nothing that seemed to worry the doctor at least.
http://www.ocm-muenchen.de/index.phpI of course didn't see any of the doctors listed on their webpage, I saw one of the assistants, but he was far cuter than any of the others anyways.

Wife needs to see a foot doctor about some nerve damage.
She injured it a couple of years ago dancing at a wedding in some high heels and really hasn't been able to wear heels since.
We have Deutsche BKK (German insurance) and are looking for someone who is competent specializing in foot work.
English speaking preferred but not essential.
Any suggestions? Thanks

I don't personally know of one... it's possible you might have to be referred by your house doctor? I think most visits to specialists require a Rezept... but not 100% (in the case of any I have seen a Rezept has been asked for).
But there is some info here:

I can recommend:
Hebel T. Dr., Opel G. Dr. u. Schumacher T. Dr.
Karlsplatz 4
80335 München
Tel: (089) 597927
They are skin specialists which includes dealing with foot problems. They can also check you for malignant moles. They have cameras which take photos of your suspect moles and store them on their computer. They can then compare them next time you go for changes. Any malignant or suspect moles can be removed painlessly with lasers.
I had an unsightly mole which I hated and they removed that at the same time as other suspect moles and charged it to the health insurance saying it was necessary

Just ask...

Hi Guys
My experience of breaking my foot the other day.
Doesnt seem to be an impact break, possibly a stress fracture.
My foot ached a little a couple of days up to playing in a football tournament, then progressively through the day of the tournament, by foot began to hurt more and more. A few hard tackles and the keeper trying to clear the ball when I was charging it down and the ball hit the end of my foot, caused alot of pain.
Foot swelled up, but no bruise and I couldnt walk on the sole or toes. Pain on top of foot, when adding pressure.
Went to hospital (near Munich's Max-Weber-platz) on Tuesday, got an X-ray and they saw the fracture.
Got a plaster which resembles a sandel, just the sole and over the top of foot, heel and toes exposed.
Crutches and some funny looking shoe which enables me to walk on my heel.
4-6 weeks recovery. No time off work, no pain killers, dull pain at the moment, but not too bad
But main thing is that Rooney looks to be back and ready, so we are definitely gonna win the world cup.
Gonna lay in my oxygen tent now, cheers.
peachy

I am a dancer with an injury since about April. I had two weeks off, but since taking classes a week ago, it's worsened. I'm pretty sure it's a collapsed metatarsal. Perhaps someone can offer some advice? I have to wait until I get insurance before going to see a doctor, but that should happen rather quickly. In the meantime, could someone recommend a good foot specialist?

I went to Dr. Schneiderhan for my feet treatment mainly because he's my local orthopaedic. He's very expensive but very good -
http://www.orthopaede.com/ (the site mostly goes on about back treatment but he does all sporting injuries.
Dr. med. Reinhard Schneiderhan

If your a professional dancer you might also want to have the info for a sports klinik in your rolodex. This one comes highly recommended.

iain, get your arse down to Sportmedizin if you have private insurance. I dont know much about the injury you talk about but these guys are great with knees. Read the first thread that Editor Bob posted above and you will see everyone that went there is very happy with the results.

I ran across a sign for a podologe today on
Sendlingerstrasse. According to the hits on the internet (such as
http://www.praeha.de/ausbildungen/podologe.html) it seems to be a physical therapy type thing, but I am going to see if it's worth checking out. Has (in the meantime since this thread started) anyone been to one?

Hi,
I've got some problems with my feet. I've managed to pick up a wart like infection (Eww) a few years ago.
I've tried all the normal stuff, including
tape!
Anyone know what kind of Doctor I need? Also, can you recommend anyone?
Ta, Paul.

I might be wrong but I think you should go to your Hautarzt. Go to GP (Hausarzt) and get a transfer.

I'm looking for someone who can create custom footbeds. I got shinsplints from running so I went to an orthopaedic doctor who then handed me off (in the same office) to some guy who took the impressions of my feet.
I don't want to go back to this same doctor's office (it's on the other side of town) so I was hoping to find someone who does that on the north side of town (Schwabing,
Milbertshofen, etc).
I already have the prescription for the footbeds from my normal doc, I just need the guy who can do the impressions and create the footbeds.
Any ideas?
