Shipping companies for removals within Europe

eg. Munich to Florence

Does anyone know of a company that I can use to ship my stuff from Munich to Florence. I tried to do a search but could only find things for shipping to/from USA/UK.

I don't have a huge amount of stuff as I rented a fully furnished apartment here. Any ideas on approx costs for shipping (I've probably got a car load of stuff). I know, I could hire a car, but my new company in Florence is reimbursing the shipping costs, and it will be a lot less hassel.

Anyone know of any websites in English?

Oh, and roughly how long will it take from then picking my stuff up here to dropping it off to me in Florence?

Thanks in advance.

I'll ask the Italian guys I work with and see if they recommend any companies that go to Italy regularly.

I think Schenker logistics could do it for you, Petal. Check out Schenker. They're the company that moved me from Canada to Munich. I also asked some Italian colleagues and they had no idea. Call this 0180 20 180 20 toll free number or 89/94924-371 which is their Land/Move(Umzug) number for Munich area. I hope they speak english!!

Dachser are a worldwide freight company, you could try calling them and asking, although they might only deal with companies.

Cheers KM - appreciate that.

And thanks for the links. Will check into them. already had a quote from Intermove for 750 Euros plus tax!!! Outrageous...I only have a car load of stuff!! I know my company will pay, but only up to 500 Euros. Tight buggers dry.gif

try Schenker (as Canuck suggested), but if you don't have furniture you can ask for a "Beiladung". This is where they fill up the back of a truck with your gear, so it doesn't really cost them anything as they've charged the main customer for the truckload already.

It only really works for boxes of stuff though officially, they don't take responsibility for furniture (but I sent all my flat's contents, including a bed and a table with them to the UK and it was fine). It has to be packed (very well) by you as you never know what else could be in the truck. But I paid € 800 to the UK for about 13 cubic metres, brilliant. They collected it from the ground floor and delivered it to my mum's house, but they don't carry it up the stairs...it's a commercial door-to-door shift.

Most the Italian's use TNT (not courier!!) of Roma - 0621704974. If they are delivering stuff to Munich (which they do often) then you may get a deal of having stuff dropped off in Florence.

They also use Euromoving, but I have not contact details of them.

Wow, 800 Euros for 13 cubic metres. My quote of 750 was for 3!!!
