Laptop bags which say "contents are worthless"

..but still sturdy inside - where to buy

Does anyone know a good shop(s) for buying laptop bags? I'd prefer a backpack, and very plain or ugly looking. Something that carries the stylish statement "contents are worthless", but still sturdy on the inside. I tried Sportscheck online - but they don't seem to carry anything. I thought maybe a camping/outdoor store might have what I'm looking for, similar to REI, but in Munich, obviously.

did you try Litec?
they have all kinds of stuff, do a search on "Noteb.-Tasche", brings up quite a few options, some of them rucksacks.

There's a section for laptop bags in Saturn on Kaufingerstr.

1. Saturn.
2. Bag shop on Kaufingerstr just at Karlsplatz.
3. Bag shop on Kaufingerstr beside the Krug place.

I got mine in #3 above. Excellent it is.

These two shops (and a third in the same chain, just by Isartor on Tal) are the best for reduced gear, so you can get better stuff for your money. There's a 4th chain member on the street down to Sendlinger Tor, on the left, too.

The shop is called "Lederwaren Hetzenecker". Don't expect the most friendly service, but the prices are fab.

For something like this, I think that it's worth spashing out a litttle more cash, I mean, you paid some decent money for the laptop right? Don't you want to protect the computer? This usually means keeping it safe and secure: I like Tumi as a product - good quality, execellent zippers, lifetime guarantee, looks professional, etc.

So, I went looking for a Tumi at some bag shops here in Munich after having had a look on their website (www.tumi.com). But, they were huge, bulky and expensive.

The woman helping me suggested a german manufacturer called Offermann: leather, stylish, pratical, computer/backpack. I bought this one for (glup) 160 EUR, but have been really happy with it. Since 1 yr now, I've been using it back and forth work and home and am very happy. I throw it on my back, and ride my bike with it...

Try in the Teatinerstrasse, I forgot the name of the place, but it's in the "Hof" where many store are inside...

Crumpler stuff is good randy, but quite expensive. The shop is not far from you there either:

I'm not sure where you can get them in Munich, but I have a Jansport rucsac with a padded laptop pocket. It's excellent - although it cost seventy quid in the UK, it looks good as new after using it every day for over a year. It's also survived a few more adventurous trips used as a weekend bag. You can pick them up pretty cheaply on ebay, and online stores. Laptop pouch next to your back, then a big compartment with some paper/magazine sleeves in the side, then a thin compartment then another big zip up thing with pen holders, velco bits etc.

Best laptop ruck I bought was from SpireUSA. They've not got a DE distributor, but got a great mailorder service. It now 6 years old and after daily usage its finally about to die...

Each ruck comes with a separate inner for your laptop which you can choose specifically for your size notebook. I've managed to carry to complete notebooks in my ruck when I've been travelling on business but also wanted my personal notebook with me.

EDIT - roofbox have been added as a UK supplier. have just emailed then to see if they will ship to germany, as I want to replace mine too

Thanks for all the great advice folks. As it turned out, an anonymous TT member kindly gave me their used bag gratis; which (shockingly!) turned out to be the best deal in Munich wink.gif

MM: That Crumpler website is strange/eclectic/neat and well done. They even have naked models for the bags happy.gif
