1st Toytown BBQ of the year - Friday 27th May starting around 5pm
The weather forcast is for 30 degree sunshine all day
http://wetter.rtl.de/deutschland/vorhersag...HEN&near=&tag=2We plan to meet up in one of the BBQ spots in the English garden near to Studentenstadt.
This is not a formal event we will not charge you entance fees, all you need to do is bring your own food and drink.
Anyone who has a BBQ grill and or charcoal that they can bring along would be of great help. If people don't bring them then there won't be much cooked food!
The place we are going to has a large grass area, perfect for football, touch rugby or frisbee. So also bring balls etc!
There is also a river there to keep your drinks cool.
Please see
HERE for directions
All are welcome!!

I don't know about you, eurovol, but I've only ever been to BBQs. Never heard of this "grilling out" thing.

Nor have I from the other side of the Atlantic. Tennessee dialect perhaps? Or a translation of the German?

Yup all the same, Burn stuff, pretend it's food, drink beer to get rid of the taste.
Boy scout cooking really !
The event itself: BBQ
The equipment used: A BBQ that may or may not have a grill part
The action: BBQing, grilling could also be used if one is ONLY using the grill part of the BBQ.
In fact with modern gas BBQs you hardly ever see the grill part anymore, only the hotplate, so unless you are lucky enough to have a proper charcoal BBQ with a grill part, BBQ would be the more correct verb to use.

And what about my good karma, it was my idea!!
Please post if you want to come. Good pick of position Eric, that's right near the Aumeister for a nice beer garden later on...
There is also the cheapy shop opposite Butlers in Tal which has flat-pack mini BBQ's for €3.99, not bad...
I shall bring a BBQ/grill/whatever, so that'll do if no-one else does. Also will bring some candley things for lighting later on

Sorry ETH, it has just been confirmed that i will indeed be sunning myself on the shores of Lake Garda by 5pm Friday, so won't see. shame looks like perfect weather for cooking food over charcoals (carefully trying to avoid the use of the words "Grill" or "BBQ")

@ owain glyndwr (i think)
the hamster continues to apologize profusely and slurredly about the physical damage to your face acquired during football celebrations.
he also says, "so who's actually coming on friday?"

me! me! Yes, seems most people are scared to commit, as they're saving their livers for
Andechs. But this is all about chillin' out in the park, not a piss-up. Seems to be about 10 of us so far, that's cool
If you're wondering how to get there, I can recommend the DB call-a-bike if you don't have a bike. I hired 3 to get us home from the Chinesischer Turm last night, it's really easy. You just need to find a bike which is free (green flashing light on lock), then call the number on the bike using your mobile phone, having a credit card number ready. It costs 7 cents per minute, a lot cheaper than a cab!

Well I was considering it, but whats all this about a bike and a cell phone and a credit card? Sounds a bit complicated, can I drive or take a train? Im still not totally confident I can find the place. Kind of hard to carry a BBQ, charcoal, meat and beers on a bike anyway.
JoolyBooly
May 27 2005, 10:42 am
sure you cna drive, walk, bus, all sorts.
It's easy to find the general area we'll be in, then if in doubt PM me for a mobile number to help find us.
Look at the map in the first post, it's the
U-Bahn "Studentenstadt" and then a stroll across to the park, apparently 10 minutes (
www.mvv-muenchen.de).
Are you bringing a BBQ then? would save me carrying one...
Kza

Still working it out, looks like I might just bring one of those disposable BBQs as environmentally unfriendly as they are, and just walking from the Studenenstadt U Bahn.

Eric the Hamster
May 27 2005, 10:54 am
OK, i'll be there from about 5 and i will brind a disposable BBQ, if JB brings one aswell that should be more than enough for the amount of people we have.
I got a bit fried in the sun yesterday but looking forward to a relaxing time in the evening sun.

fried? just you wait, you'll scream when you see us. 6 hours in a pool in erding, we don't need a grill, you can cook on our skin!

Careful with renting the DB bikes and then going outside of Mittlerer Ring. That costs you an extra 10 bucks.
As there seems to be no sport activity tonight, I might just makeit out for a bit and say hi.
