'Sweet indeed' it was. How many people can be expected for Wednesday? I gotta admit I am more likely not to be there (duty will probably still be calling), but I'd love to try to free up my evening if it promises to be another fun game.

It is supposed to be sprinking a bit on Wednesday and 15 degrees. I say we go for it regardless of the weather and be prepared for a few nice mud slides. What do you say? Who is with me?
I'm new to the area but I'm game for it. Is it at spot 1 or spot 2 on the map?

I'm up for playing tommorow (Wed.).
Thursday is a holiday as well, so we can go all out in the mud!

May 21 2008, 9:18 am
As it is Wednesday and isn't hot and sunny, we should have no trouble getting a field on spot 1. So, I suggest meeting there. It looks like there are at least 3 of us confirmed. Anyone else coming? A few more online confirmations could encourage the people on the edge to come out. BTW, the weather forecast is saying that around 18:00 it shouldn't be raining but just cloudy.

If you look at the map in post 1 or check the archive thread - always very useful - you'll see that you want to get off at
Giselastr then head down the Marliusstr. which turns into Thiemestr.; go over the little bridge and you'll hit the garden. Just look on your left, there should be a few frisbees flying! It's roughly a 5 - 10 minutes walk from the U-Bahn to the pitch.

Great game today, the first
Eisbach swim of the season. Very cool (brrr).
The next game will be on
Wednesday 4th June at 18:00 at the Giselastrasse location (location 1 on the map). Also: because of the onset of summer, the Sunday games will be pushed back to 16:00 from next weekend. The location will remain as
Dietlindenstrasse (location 2) for the rest of the summer. Hence the next Sunday game will be on
Sunday 8th June at 16:00 at the Hirschau field.

How best to get to the locations by bike came up on Sunday. There is a handy online tool called the
Fahrrad Routenplaner für München.
Just enter your starting address and destination, ex.
Hirschau and it gives you a bike-friendly route similar to google maps, etc. Under Optionen, you can also choose a Zwischenziel, such as Chinesischer Turm, and specify your Preference for shortest, greenest, side streets, etc. as well as your speed.
While I'm at it, I assume most of you know about the
MVV Fahrplanauskunft, where you can get routes and schedules for public transport.

only really any use if you have absolutely no clue, otherwise it is shit. It won't, for example, route you across the Staudamm from Oberföhring to Schwabing, instead it sends you all the way down to the Mittlere Ring and then back up the other side.

Or you can just print out the map at the top of the thread and rely on your intuition to get within range. Personally I find it nigh on impossible to get lost in Munich on bike, there are so many landmarks and signs for cyclists. Of course, that may also be on account on my Navajo blood, who can be sure.

On a completely different subject: am I the only one with a crippling all-over body ache today after playing for two hours in the sun and then jumping into the ice cold
Eisbach yesterday. I guess it's because I didn't stretch at all, but I've hobbling around like an old man all day today. Grunt.

Hmm, I just tried your example and you're right, they missed a crossing there. But for most routes, it works fairly well especially if you play around with the options and can give you some new shortcuts or whatever. I did send it mainly for people who want some help finding their way, as was brought up on Sunday. I find my own way, too, but just like to use it once in a while to see which way is supposedly shortest, etc. But I didn't design it and am not forcing it on anyone.
