Good thought.
In spite of the weather over the last few days, the forecast for Sunday is sunny and a lot warmer.
We'll be meeting on Sunday at Giselastrasse at 13:40, in time to commandeer the pitch from those touch rugby hooligans.
prijks
I'll be there, and I even remembered to change my clocks!

(OK, so actually all but one of them remembered to change themselves, but I'll take credit for it anyway. And I did change the one.)
jayhay
The weather has picked up again and it's staying light until almost 8pm.
Who's interested in a midweek game of frisbee at 6pm at the Giselastrasse location this week?
mrbrain
Count me in as a maybe.
MoiLV
meeeee!
Radioactive TreeHugger
i'm also i maybe, seeing as arcade fire just cancelled their gig on wednesday mad.gif
[K'GB]Arthur
I like the idea to come, but probability that I am not free is about 80% unsure.gif .
hezamarie
love to be there, but I'm in study mode in Hagen.

When do the Biergartens open?
I'd be happy to meet you guys at the Chinese Tower after Frisbee, say in the following week.
MandyNY
I am also gonna say yes as a most likely maybe. See you there maybe!! M PS-anyone bringing their dog?
jayhay
Well it looks like it might amount to a throwaround and then some beer garden action afterwards, but I'm down for that too ...
mrbrain
Bring sweaters and warm jackets. I want to do some damage at the Chinaturm tomorrow! DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
eriiki tubbs
I think I'll be able to make it down for this.
mrbrain
Bump! Who else is in for tonight?
Wizadora
Friad, I'm going to be watching the Scotland match. Have fun peeps!
Inflatablewoman
Would have but watching England at GMs. Have a good 'un!
icculus
If I can get out of work in time I'm in.

If not enought people, I like the throw around and a beer idea. Looks like at worst it's Jano and I
mrbrain
MoiLV and jayhay will be there. Maybe we do a two on two...
icculus
Sounds kinky. Better buy me a drink first!
jayhay
I enjoyed the (brief and windy) game last night. Scott's "half-court" version of ultimate was a great way of playing a game with fewer people. Those orange cones are wicked pissah!
DRW, sorry to hear you're leaving us. It was good playing with you over these last two years. Have a good journey home and stay in touch smile.gif

Next game: Giselastr. location (see map above) at 13:40 on Sunday.
As ever we'll be taking over the pitch from the touch rugby kids.

from the touch rugby kids.

Thanks Jay, that makes me feel young.
mrbrain
The half court frisbee was excellent! It made for good skills practice, with a focus on short, crisp passing (something that I can't really do well).
Solo
Sorry I couldn't make it last night guys. I am really looking forward to a long frisbee summer again though!
tsquare
See you there on Sunday

Agree. Less of the mindless running back and forth that you get with undermanned games and more about reacting quickly in both running and throwing.
mrbrain
The forecast for Sunday looks great right now -- 16 degrees and sunny! See you there at 13:45...
one51
I should make it Sunday afternoon.

Slightly related: any frisbee peeps got somethin' good going on tonight? Just back from a business trip and I might go out for a beer or two if something's up...

Hey everyone,
Today (Sunday) would be my last Munich game - for the foreseeable future. I'm leaving for Chicago this Tuesday morning (April 3rd) - for good.

Thus, I'm hoping I end up seeing all of the regulars today. I know it's last minute, but I wasn't sure if I could make the game today.

Scott, Eli, Jay (both), Alexandro, Tenley, Arthur, and others: please be there if you can. It would be very nice to see you before I leave.

Cheers,
Manoj
jayhay
Good game today (the little bit which I joined in for), great to see some new faces and extra points for the enthusiastic beer garden participation.
Next game will be on Wednesday evening at 18:00 at Giselastrasse (see the map at the start of the thread). Hasta pronto ...

Manoj: send me the photos and I'll post them to the thread ... sorry to see you leave us.
tsquare
What a perfect day for a game yesterday. Wow! Manoj, I only just now read your post. I'm sorry that I didn't say good bye! We'll miss you!

On another note - let's remember that the only way the newbies improve (and have any interest in returning) is to handle the disc and receive a little guidance as the game goes on.

I'll see you all out there in a couple of weeks!
PhantomRex
Hello all.
It has been a pleasure playing with you all. As usual, the Ultimate community is THE coolest everywhere.
If any of you come to Chicago, please let me know beforehand. My email "manoj.bhargaw_at_gmail.com" (replace _at_ with @).
I probably will be back in Munich in September. I'll let you guys know.

The pictures: I'll send them to Scott or Jay(Hay). Give me a few days to settle down in Chicago.

About newcomers: I agree with Tenley. It's in our best interests also to get them involved - that way, they keep coming back ;-)
One of the things we have done in the past: take 20-30 minutes before or after the game on "newbies knowledge improvement". Usually, before the game is a little better. You can take 1 or 2 topics and practice them for a couple of weeks. Throwing (backhand and forehand), forcing, stack, cutting (especially horizontal vs. vertical cuts), catching etc. There are enough experienced players here to cover all the basics with the newcomers.

Enjoy the summer in Munich - you guys have NO idea how much I envy you all!

Thanks, Jay, for the beer - I guess I can't keep my promises to myself very well :-)

Till we meet again - play hard and live the spirit.

I did my best to enourage you to break this one biggrin.gif

I agree with this 100%, well said.
To anyone out there who'd be thinking about coming but hasn't played Ultimate before: give it a try, we won't bite smile.gif
(apart from maybe in the beer garden after the game)
Wizadora
Sorry I missed this yesterday, I was having a very lazy day after the 20euro drinks Arc carnage. blink.gif

Hope to make up for it on Wednesady before I'm off home for Easter!

Awesome game everybody! I was impressed that we managed to play for 2.5 hours (with some reinforcements later on). I guarantee the Wednesday game will be ended by darkness and not weariness!

Newcomers always welcome to get instruction/practice. Easiest way is if you show up right on time, to join the throw around --> when coming halfway through the game it's hard to pull someone out of the excitement. When throwing around, I found it's more instructive to just go 1-on-1 instead of the giant circle. But then we need enough discs. :-)

Just don't ask about the "Wrath of Keith!!!" You have been warned. If you do, then you have to eat the spicy liver pate.

Are you channelling me again Tenley? wink.gif Great to see that things are starting up again!

Edinburgh season started last week - only had nine of us, but I'm working on it... weather was great though, and we're playing again tomorrow.

Hi, I'd love to come along one sunday. Have never played, but I can throw a frisbee (varying degrees of accuracy) and I've also been known to run. Just one question - would it be appropriate to bring kids along (3yr olds to be specific)?
mrbrain
We've had a few kids along, even some older ones play with us sometimes; I remember seeing a baby on Sunday, too. Come down and check it out!

Not sure if I can make this Wednesday, but will come next weekend if I am in Munich.
tsquare
Ben!! Hey there - we sure miss you. Yes, your legacy lives on!

Could you post a photo so I don't have to walk the whole way there to see it?
hezamarie
@Manoj - Sorry I missed you on Sunday. Good Luck with the move and if I'm ever in the Windy City I'll definitely give you heads up.
--

Weather is looking good for Wednesday. Since my knee isn't up to top form, I'd be happy to start up a mini beginner's game or toss the frisbee around for those who are brand new to the sport. Ultimate is easy to pick up and most jump into the regular game after a few tips.

Hope to see you all tomorrow, newbies too!
one51
As long as there's someone to look after the kiddos and they are not wandering aimlessly across the field, no problem! Sunday we had old people, strollers, people on mobiles, "suit guy", and even a high dude with a broken arm wander aimlessly across the field. Hehe.

If you coordinate with some of the others with kids, you can have a mini nursery so that someone is always on the sidelines watching 'em. Happens a lot in other places I've played Ultimate. smile.gif
hezamarie
Er. Snow on the ground?? Upps, I guess I read the wrong weather forecast.
one51
Who's planning to play today? Not sure about me since it's cold and wet (even if it is light until 8).

Hezamarie, it was pretty weird to see cars driving by with snow on their roofs this fine April morning...
mrbrain
I'm definitely out today...
MandyNY
I'm going to say maybe. Maybe if it warms up and dries out a little. Otherwise, maybe Sunday. See you guys!
jayhay
Looking at the forecast it's likely to be overcast but dry this afternoon.
I'll be there as long as it's not [a] raining, [b] incredibly windy or [c] all of the above.
hezamarie
I'm leaning towards nay. Unless the weather does a 180. Maybe Sunday for me.
jayhay
Does that mean your knee's better though?
hezamarie
It means I'd hang out with the newbies and toss the frisbee around, getting fresh air, etc.
Running with a torn ACL, i.e. Kreuzbandriss is still in question for me. unsure.gif

However, yes the knee's better, just minus a ligament.
icculus
Looks like I am out ;-( Sorry.
Will be travelling the next two weeks, so see you either april 18th, or 22nd.
Happy Easter. Scott
one51
Uhm, yeah. Since I'm still at work, I'm gonna have to go ahead and stay here. And I'm going to have to come in on SUNDAY too. (j/k).

Might be out of town for the weekend, so maybe see y'all /next/ Wednesday!
