Good thought.
In spite of the weather over the last few days, the forecast for Sunday is sunny and a lot warmer.
We'll be meeting on
Sunday at Giselastrasse at 13:40, in time to commandeer the pitch from those
touch rugby hooligans.

I'll be there, and I even remembered to change my clocks!
(OK, so actually all but one of them remembered to change themselves, but I'll take credit for it anyway. And I did change the one.)

The weather has picked up again and it's staying light until almost 8pm.
Who's interested in a midweek game of frisbee at 6pm at the Giselastrasse location this week?

I enjoyed the (brief and windy) game last night. Scott's "half-court" version of ultimate was a great way of playing a game with fewer people. Those orange cones are wicked pissah!
DRW, sorry to hear you're leaving us. It was good playing with you over these last two years. Have a good journey home and stay in touch
Next game: Giselastr. location (see map above) at 13:40 on Sunday.
As ever we'll be taking over the pitch from the

Agree. Less of the mindless running back and forth that you get with undermanned games and more about reacting quickly in both running and throwing.

Hey everyone,
Today (Sunday) would be my last Munich game - for the foreseeable future. I'm leaving for Chicago this Tuesday morning (April 3rd) - for good.
Thus, I'm hoping I end up seeing all of the regulars today. I know it's last minute, but I wasn't sure if I could make the game today.
Scott, Eli, Jay (both), Alexandro, Tenley, Arthur, and others: please be there if you can. It would be very nice to see you before I leave.
Cheers,
Manoj

Good game today (the little bit which I joined in for), great to see some new faces and extra points for the enthusiastic beer garden participation.
Next game will be on Wednesday evening at 18:00 at Giselastrasse (see the map at the start of the thread). Hasta pronto ...
Manoj: send me the photos and I'll post them to the thread ... sorry to see you leave us.

What a perfect day for a game yesterday. Wow! Manoj, I only just now read your post. I'm sorry that I didn't say good bye! We'll miss you!
On another note - let's remember that the only way the newbies improve (and have any interest in returning) is to handle the disc and receive a little guidance as the game goes on.
I'll see you all out there in a couple of weeks!

Hello all.
It has been a pleasure playing with you all. As usual, the Ultimate community is THE coolest everywhere.
If any of you come to Chicago, please let me know beforehand. My email "manoj.bhargaw_at_gmail.com" (replace _at_ with @).
I probably will be back in Munich in September. I'll let you guys know.
The pictures: I'll send them to Scott or Jay(Hay). Give me a few days to settle down in Chicago.
About newcomers: I agree with Tenley. It's in our best interests also to get them involved - that way, they keep coming back ;-)
One of the things we have done in the past: take 20-30 minutes before or after the game on "newbies knowledge improvement". Usually, before the game is a little better. You can take 1 or 2 topics and practice them for a couple of weeks. Throwing (backhand and forehand), forcing, stack, cutting (especially horizontal vs. vertical cuts), catching etc. There are enough experienced players here to cover all the basics with the newcomers.
Enjoy the summer in Munich - you guys have NO idea how much I envy you all!
Thanks, Jay, for the beer - I guess I can't keep my promises to myself very well :-)
Till we meet again - play hard and live the spirit.

Awesome game everybody! I was impressed that we managed to play for 2.5 hours (with some reinforcements later on). I guarantee the Wednesday game will be ended by darkness and not weariness!
Newcomers always welcome to get instruction/practice. Easiest way is if you show up right on time, to join the throw around --> when coming halfway through the game it's hard to pull someone out of the excitement. When throwing around, I found it's more instructive to just go 1-on-1 instead of the giant circle. But then we need enough discs. :-)

Hi, I'd love to come along one sunday. Have never played, but I can throw a
frisbee (varying degrees of accuracy) and I've also been known to run. Just one question - would it be appropriate to bring kids along (3yr olds to be specific)?
mrbrain

We've had a few kids along, even some older ones play with us sometimes; I remember seeing a baby on Sunday, too. Come down and check it out!

@Manoj - Sorry I missed you on Sunday. Good Luck with the move and if I'm ever in the Windy City I'll definitely give you heads up.

Weather is looking good for Wednesday. Since my knee isn't up to top form, I'd be happy to start up a mini beginner's game or toss the
frisbee around for those who are brand new to the sport. Ultimate is easy to pick up and most jump into the regular game after a few tips.
Hope to see you all tomorrow, newbies too!

As long as there's someone to look after the kiddos and they are not wandering aimlessly across the field, no problem! Sunday we had old people, strollers, people on mobiles, "suit guy", and even a high dude with a broken arm wander aimlessly across the field. Hehe.
If you coordinate with some of the others with kids, you can have a mini nursery so that someone is always on the sidelines watching 'em. Happens a lot in other places I've played Ultimate.

It means I'd hang out with the newbies and toss the frisbee around, getting fresh air, etc.
Running with a torn ACL, i.e. Kreuzbandriss is still in question for me.
However, yes the knee's better, just minus a ligament.
