Thanks to everyone ...for making today such a great day out.
Am I only the one with sore muscles all down one side of my body ?

The guy who lent us the golf-discs today will be back in Munich next weekend.
He's got a couple of mobile holes (=buckets) which we could set up in the north
part of the
English Garden for a round or two next weekend, either on Saturday
or Sunday. I'll speak to him in the next couple of days and post more info here.

To all who came today: check yourself for ticks. I picked up my second stowaway in as many weeks.

An excellent day out! Im in the process of getting my pictures published to my website, stay tuned.
For anyone who wants to buy a disc/discs of their own, PM me as soon as possible since I can pick up discs when I go to return the ones we borrowed. There are 3 quality level of discs; normal, pro, and premium. The levels go for 9.50/11.50/13.50 euros. I have no friggin clue what the differences are, but the guy keeps on coming back to the type of plastic...

If you just indicate what level you feel you are, the guy should be able to sort you out with something good.
DW, them ticks be liking you, I think.

Got my pictures posted to the web for all of you to enjoy. They're best viewed if you click on an image, and proceed through using the arrows (or alternately, as a slide show). And no, the semi-cheesy fall feeling to the page was not my idea, but what I found best applicable from my automatic web publishing system for photos.
Disc Golf in Weilheim, Oct. 30th, 2005 Enjoy!

Great day out. Thanks to the organisers for, well, organising it. Thanks to Erik for driving.
Did a tick check and I am clear. Must be you DW..
I am certainly feeling it a bit and have a huge headache.. Too much fresh air for my liking. Give me a stuffy, dark room with unlimited sports coverage on TV anyday..

Thanks for the offer Ben. Sunday was a fun if small turnout but the 2-on-2 was a great idea Hayne. I'm off to the airport in about 10 mins so probably is a little late for a toss today. Sorry I couldn't say bye to everyone in person, but it's been a great summer and a lot of fun inside and outside the ultimate cones! Take care.

I've started a new disc-golf thread with a suggestion for a game in Munich this coming Saturday.
Here's the link ...

OK, it's been 3 weeks since we last had a proper game, and I'm getting cranky. I'd really like to play tomorrow, Sunday, 4pm -- any takers?
It should be light till about 5:30-6:00ish, although if we plan to continue playing over the coming months we should perhaps shift the meetup time back to 3pm?

Ben, I was just debating Ultimate vs. disc golf. Since Ultimate has sadly been sparse as of late, and disc golf is still good with even 3 or 4 people. Any mobs of team-based-game players who want to sway me to Ultimate over frolf tomorrow?

Nov 5 2005, 8:29 pm
Hey guys ... I've got plans tomorrow around noon, so there is no way for me to play golf. But I would really like to play a real game as well. Mostly I just need the exercise, but I also only have a couple more weeks in Munich (Marie, the wee-one and I fly "home" on Nov.22). So I'd like to play this weekend as I don't know what is going to happen the next 2 Sundays ...
What do you think?
jayhay
Nov 5 2005, 8:55 pm
Since it might be the last week that Haynous is able to play and since he can't make disc golf, I'm up for playing ultimate instead. I've posted in the golf thread to the same effect.
But how about meeting a bit earlier that 4pm? It's getting dark (and cold) so early now, perhaps it would make sense to meet around 2 pm at the usual spot? In case some people want to turn up later, I'll be there with my golf discs at 2pm for a bit of bit of kamikaze disc-golf to warm up until things get rolling.
I'm up for ultimate. Since I think the sun sets around 4:45 PM, I'd also say we should start earlier than usual, say 2 or 3PM.
if my shoes dry from hiking in the rain/snow today then i might try to join you guys!

(and if i dont get lost on the way there- that park confuses me!)

Meredith, just walk into the
English Gardens from the U-Bahnhof
Giselastrasse, you'll find us easily enough (and no doubt hear our huffing and puffing). I'll PM you my mobile number in case you have problems.

I am probably around. How about we start at 3pm at
Giselastrasse. We ran through there at 4.30pm today and it was totally vacant.
Perfect conditions for those long diving catches.

Nov 5 2005, 11:20 pm
As it looks like its on for Ultimate, I will hopefully show up at 3.
I gotta admit, the whole Ultimate thing for me is for the cardio, so I am not really up for the golf.
I generally think that golf is not really a sport, - I mean come on, have you ever seen a guy with a respirator driving a cart around an Ultimate frisbee game? (or Hockey, basketball, soccer etc)
Generally (i.e. don't get too fussy here), a sport involves a dynamic team activity where there is a physical exertion. Therefore golf is just a way to spoil a nice walk and use up water resources so that rich businessmen can do a deal without being recorded in a board meeting. - are you sensing the attitude?
anyway, I'll be there tomorrow, probably slightly hung over from the few bottles of wine tonight...(nothing better than a drunken rant.)

OK, looks like we are on for Ultimate instead of golf! I'll be there... and we should definitely do something afterwards. Maybe the movie night at my place would finally be a go (and we won't all smell quite SO stanky this weekend, if it's nice and cool outside). Anyway a restaurant & beer after the game is a given, ja?

Nov 6 2005, 9:31 am
Yeah, well the forecast isn't looking quite as good as it was, but there's a 0% chance of rain, even if it is destined to remain cloudy. I'm defo up for something (food/beer) afterwards, especially if this will be the last week that Hain is around to catch all the frisbees. There's a cheap and friendly Indian place on
Leopoldstrasse (Shere Punjab) not far from U-Giselastrasse which might be an idea.
By the look of the number of forum posts, there should be a good turnout today, I'm wicked psyched!

(disclaimer: this post is not intended to scare people away from playing ultimate)Just got back from the hospital, nothing broken, just bruising. Hopefully I'll be fit to play again in a week or so. How was the rest of the game?
Did Killer-H cause any more injuries?
benpanter
Nov 6 2005, 6:03 pm
Nope... no more injuries! Glad to hear you're ok though jay.
Killer himself suggested grabbing some food at a place near
Ostbahnhof sometime. Anybody up for it this week? I'm free Wednesday and Thursday I think. Hayne -- does the place do any vegetarian food do you know? I'm a big carnivorous chap, but I think Bo and Jay will be after something a little less (formerly) animate.

I was worried about you.
Ben, The name of the place is Rusticana (

Grillparzerstr. 5

Haidhausen ...it's about equidistant from Max Weber Platz and the
OstbahnhofHere are some comments about the place:
http://www.kneipen-suche.com/muenchen-rust...42.html#kommentOh - the only non-meat meal I've had there are the baked potatoes - which were large and yummie. (was just looking at their website. The potatoe and the salad may be all they have ... is that okay?)
If we are going to go we will definately need to reserve space. For that I need to pick a day and time. I was thinking
next week on Wednesday (Nov.16) at 6:30 pm. How does that sound? We could do it this week, but I want to make sure everyone is aware ...

Jay, glad you are not broken, only slightly damaged with a shorter healing interval than anticipated.
As for the dinner, tuesdays are generally bad since I will now have band practice every tues. But wed, thurs, etc are OK as long as I have notice (so as not to plan a kicker a.k.a. foosball night at the same time).
I'm gonna be a rock star!!

Yeup, anyone is welcome to come along, as long as they don't mind running about a bit! We no longer play the Wednesday sessions, but Sundays still happen. What we will do when the snows come is anyone's guess, but I expect we'll still be playing.
