Hi Everyone.
I have been living in Munich for over 2 years now and spent the first 10 months living off savings. I then got a job working as a stage hand.. which was great then.. but now i want to better myself.
I have been trying to find 'regular' work for a while now and don't seem to be getting very far. Here are my skills, ordered so the top one is my best & preferred:
Musician (semi pro guitarist, rock, pop, indie)
Sound Engineer (experience in live and studio work)
Guitar Tech (not much experience)
Graphic Designer (very slick with Photoshop)
Web Designer (excellent knowledge of HTML and good with GoLive, dabbled in a bit of Flash)
Computer Dude (know both PC and Mac platforms pretty damn well)
My German language is 'get-by-able' and can understand quite a lot (as long as it didn't come from the Finanzamt).
I am registered to work as a freelancer and have been for 2 years, although i understand i can also work on Lohnsteuerkarte too.
Pretty please with sugar on top, can anyone lend some tips on how to actually put at least some of my skills to good use.
btw, i would prefer an English speaking job as i am a native, but will consider German speaking stuff if that is the way it's looking.
Thanks in advance, and cheers for reading.

Hi Phil,
have you tried getting work at concert venues like the Muffathalle etc? I know a couple of people (one Irish, one German) who do sound engineering stuff for the various mid-sized live acts that pass through as well as for Bayerischer Rundfunk. If you drop me a PM, I can put you in touch.
The only other thing I could maybe help you with is where to find english teaching jobs but that wasn't on your list so...

Well, obviously i can speak English well as i am native and would consider English teaching jobs but i think it's fair to assume that i need more than just the ability to speak..
ie, i reckon i need to know more about my own language than i do before i can teach it.. for example i know the German grammer better than my own

I know one of the house guys at the muffat halle (nico) but that work is just the same as the stage hand stuff but the money is a bit better and the conditions too.
Ideally, i want a regular job for a while so i can get my finances together cos all this speradic (spelling?) freelance stuff has got the better of me.
Cheers for replying though i will be in touch re those peeps you know
Cheers.

Hi Karambos,
I hope you don´t mind me asking, but I saw that you may have info on where to teach English? I haven´t taught yet, but I am newly qualified. I plan to search soon. Do you have any advice? Sure would appreciate it.
Cheers,
Roark
Happy New Year to all.

Hi Roark,
well, if there's one thing munich isn't short of it's english schools. There are a lot of people looking for teachers. Most of them, though, and I hate to say this especially with you being newly qualified and all, are looking for experienced teachers i.e. more than two years. But that's not always the case.
I would like to put up a list of schools and contact names but firstly that already exists in the form of the Yellow Pages and secondly I'm not sure they'd appreciate that.
PM me.

The Munich English Language Teachers Association has a pretty extensive list of schools in and around Munich on their website. I wouldn't say that experienced counts so much as qualified.
