Cheap flights between France and Munich

...or alternative transport options

Anyone know of a cheap way of getting one-way from Düsseldorf or Munich to Paris? All the flights cost a fortune when you don't want to return. By the way. I just booked a flight from Paris to Dublin for Euros 9.99 with Ryanair!

Depends how long you're prepared to travel... I've done it on the bus before now. Takes about 12 hours and is usually overnight. Costs... *having a look*.. sh*t, 58€, with an open end return. You'd have to leave on the evening of the 8th. Don't know if that's of any interest...

I used vBird to get back to Holland. They fly to and from a little town called Niederrhein, which is pretty close to Düsseldorf. They can't beat your 9.99 from Ryanair, but most of the times you fly for 29 euro, all taxes included!! And you can easily fly just a one-way to Munich, no problem.

check on www.vbird.com

Hi all- Anyone got more quick advice on best cheap and semi painless options for RT flights to Paris and or to Lyon?
grtho
Just a wee word of warning; if you fly with Air France MAKE SURE you are at the check in on the way back in PLENTY of time. They LOVE to bump people off planes and if you're on a cheap ticket leaving you there stranded if you try and check in at 59 minutes before departure.

Anyone flown to Paris recently? I'm looknig for some decently priced flights (not more that €100) for a weekend trip. Will be going some time in July.
Are there any budget arlines that fly from here? I tried what I thought were the obvious ones but the likes of easy jet don't go there from Munich.
I done a quick interenet seach and the cheapest price I got was €275.
Any other ideas anyone??

Edit: I'm also wanting to take a direct flight seeing as i'm only goin for 3-4 days. I don't want to waste time in airports etc.

my friend booked last week to fly Paris to Munich this Friday for about €100 with Air France - might be worth checking them out...

OK, my turn to ask about travel from Munich to France. I want to go to Brittany at Easter, and can't find a flight for less than 280€ euros. Has anyone got any experience with this? I realise that I''ve started looking quite in advance, but the flights (eg. with air france) don't appear to get any cheaper - if you try to book for february now , it still costs the same amount as booking in april.

One alternative would be flying dba to Paris, but obviously then I need to get across to the West of france. The train would appear to cost in the region of 100€, so I would still be talking over 200€. Does anyone know if France has a National Express/Greyhound like coach service? Or does anyone have any other suggestions for me? My parents would be collecting me, so I could fly to just about any Brittany airport (Brest, Quimper, Rennes etc...)

I had to attend a christening in Brittany last year (near Rennes). In the end, I drove it: a nine-hour drive from Frankfurt, pretty much on the motorway all the way. It didn't work out much cheaper than the alternatives, but I found it less stressful than kicking my heels in airports/train stations dealing with delays and waiting for connections.

Your post mentions you could fly into Brest, etc. Well, I haven't really looked into it as I needed to fly into Rennes, but you could try pricing up a few scenarios going via the UK: there are now a few budget flights going from the UK to the Brittany coast for all the English with holiday homes there.

HTH.

Ryan air will take you there on Wednesday the 4th for 29.00 plus taxes. But you would have to go to Luton first and at the end I guess you'll end up paying more or less the same.

Easyjet will take you to Stansted for 35, but I didn't check if you'll have time to go from there to Luton in time to catch the ryan air flight. But again, after taxes, trains and all of that stuff, it doesn't look like a good alternative.

i'll be going to Brittany mid-August and am also looking into different transportation methods. i looked into flying to brest and saw flights for 350€.
@kathie -- what did you end up doing?
@admetus -- how much were toll fees in france?

bf & i have bahncard 50 and with this, you now get 25% off tix price within france. of course DB website does not site the price (i saw 57€, one way, from MA to Paris with ICE), so I'll have to go to the station to get that info. and yes, now you can get to MA-Paris in 3.5 hours, but then the trek to Brest is another 4 (change at Paris Est, take Metro 50 minutes, then hop in train), so around 9 hours in total. not much faster than car is it? that is the other option, parents lend us their other car & we will be 3 people sharing the expenses, but i hear driving around/through paris is a terror.

i should add, i'm not worried about price, rather i won't fly if i can take the train, but bf's parents want to stay longer in france, so they're taking their big sprinter (which they've converted to a little camper) and it only has 2 seats, so 3 of us have to find our own way to get there.

just in case anyone else is searching for this info, i just came back from the train station and was quoted the following:

MA-Paris East (ICE): 114€
Paris East-Brest (TGV): 160€
Total: 274€ per person, round trip with BahnCard 50 (50% discount on ticket prices w/in Germany, 25% off on French stretches)

Via Michelin (just found this site) quoted for driving, one way:

Toll costs: 50.90€
Petrol costs: 99.23€
Total: 150.13€

I guess I know what we're gonna do.

EDIT: Both would take around 10 hrs +/- each way.

Lufthansa has a great deal going on right now. I was looking at Munich to Paris anytime between July 1 and next July 1 (I think). 99€ (including taxes). I found lots of different flights, mostly midweek stuff for that price.
