I will be there. It is the 250th anniversary of this event. Kirchweih refer to the date from when a church in the community was...uh...baptised, but these are not religous events. In Erlangen they have over one million people who visit over the ten day period. This is not like the
Oktoberfest with many different tents. It is set on a hill with one long street connecting the kellers. There are thousands of picnic tables that decorate the hill like grape vines. The fest begins early in the morning and continues until ten or eleven depending if the mayor extends the closing time, which he does the first and last day. Afterwards it becomes a huge street party going until the early morning. The beer is much better there, try the Steinbach..one of the best beers, but their bergkrichweih beer is not as tasty as their normal Störchen beer. The atmosphere is much more family oriented and fun than the Oktoberfest, and the beer much better. I highly recommend it. For more specific questions pm me, as it will be a great weekend.
