Kilians - Your typical Irish bar , about as Irish as me (and I aint irish), guinness is dreadful , bands are relentlessy crap.
Outland - One of the old timers before others jumped on the munich bandwagon, for this it has respect, owned by and english bloke and a german. Enough said.?
Molly Malones - Another 'traditional' Irish bar...bit more exclusive and doesnt attract the desperados others do.
Murphys - Good for one thing : football, desperate place for people desperate to watch a match with no other option available.
Bondi - Relative new comer, was useful for the rugby , bar staff are very pleasant, without sport tho theres not an awful lot there aside from very poor french beer.
Ned Kellys - Authentic australian bar, augustiner in a bottle ...needs to be , from Faß is dreadful.
Shamrock - Sausage fest of Munich, full of drunken blokes looking for fights and the odd woman that dare tread inside the place. clean toilets.

Wee bit harsh don't you think?
I personally do not know all of the bars above, but I would prefer to go to Kilians or Murphys than the majority of German bars.
Many German bars do not actually have a proper bar where you can stand and have a beer. Its always groups sat at tables (then arguing the toss over who drank what when the bill comes, bleh.)
I like a bar with a bar, where you stand, drink, and talk shit with people you just met. Great.
Saying that
Kilians is not an authentic Irish pub is funny. Surely the only authentic Irish pubs are in Ireland - and there is hardly a formula there that EVERY pub follows. What would make an authentic English pub for example? People from a village in Yorkshire would have a different idea about that to people living in Rickmansworth.

Harsh...?
Not really harsh, a perfect discussion / poll for this otherwise dreary board. Kilians is an awful bar with dreadful bands . fact. however, it wasnt my choice as the worst, unbelievably there are worse bars.
The amusing thing is there is an
Andechs bar residing about 50meters away from
Kilians where you can "stand and talk sh1te" , has some of the best beer munich has to offer. So make a stance and stop going to this sh1tty expat bars, paying over the odds for crap beers in smoky dungeons.

depends what night of the week i suppose but in general
1) shit beer.
2) beer stained carpet.
3) resident pub nutter.
4) resident fruit machine pest who tells you always to hold when you see 2 lemons.
5) resident bitter old bloke who turns after a few pints.
6) mass brawl in the car park at closing time especially on friday and saturday.
7) illegal sky tv for watching football etc.
8) spotty tw@t in replica shirt who shouts his head off all game and claims to be number 1 fan and when england plays is patriot number 1 and abuses johnny foriegner instead of being there and doing the business himself .
9) resident divorced mum with 3 kids who dolls herself up on a friday night, leaves the kids to burn the council house down and gets what she can behind the skittle alley before getting a chinese take away which consists of shit in a silver tray.
10) resident bunch of lads who are a right bunch of lads.
11) resident bunch of slappers who get on the bitch piss i.e bacardi breezer and hooch and think they are god's gift - especially after the summer holiday in ayia napa when they've got a faded tan and the show their white thong off and their celtic design tattoo on their back with low cuts jeans etc.
12) squaddie on leave who drinks like a loon for the entire stay home.

14) german birds who are looking for a piece of anything non-german. see 13) for reason
15) twisted ex-pat who's spent too much time away and has lost a grip on reality

ayres rock , legend place, cracking location, right amongst it , 10min walk round the back of some council estate. Left leos lounge on rosenheimer strasse, a buzzing pub with plenty of atmosphere, went alone, made a go of it with the "rock".
live and learn leo, live and learn. butchered , place was a non-starter. dreadful hole.
whinging and moaning, easy tiger, just pointing out that the expat bars here are sh1te compared to other cities like prague or budapest or dresden

I also liked O'Reillys, apart from it being the haunt of Twat in the Hat - the sad old bloke who used to run the pub quiz in A Hard Days Night, and got most of his own questions wrong (he used to get them from the Sun!). After A Hard Days Night shut down he moved to O'Reillys, where he complained to the quiz organiser that our team was cheating (we were looking at an amusing German phrase book while waiting for the next question during the sport round...go figure). After O'Reillys shut down he moved to Bondi and started doing the quiz there, which is why most of us stopped going (sorry Bex). I always kind of wondered what he was doing in Germany - he seemed to spend all his time in English-speaking pubs, and I don't think he ever learned any German.
I like going to
Kilians and Ned Kellys sometimes, but I also like the German bars. A few of us even found a sort of "Bavarian locals bar" which was pretty cool, but it's a bit of a trek for just a couple of beers (Malcolm got some great pictures of us all in there). I'm also pretty fond of Cargo, but that's also a pain for me to get to, and I've not been there for a while.

where is the love people??? its nearly christmas... stop bickering...
anyhow, there is no doubt in my mind, the shamrock is THE worst ex-pat bar in the world...
why hasn't the place been shut down??? i mean, in germany, of all places, they surely have health and safety standards... i categorically state that i have never been there and i am never going there again...
...a revealing exercise is to go into one of these bars (take your pick shamrock,
Kilians, murphys) on a bright afternoon, 6 nations rugby for example, and you can see the fleas dancing in the shafts of light that occasionally break thru the fug and find their way down stairs...
i once left
Kilians and saw a rat racing up the stairs in front of me... even he was in hurry to get out of the place...
all that said, the bondi is a fine bar for sport... clean and friendly... although there is the occasional loud mouth english rugby fan #1 in there... ch'mon johhhnnnnyyyy...
...and the 'old irish' (don't know the real name) in
Schwabing is a little gem...

apparently O'reillys closed down cos the building it was in is owned by the people who own that posh cafe bar next door. They put the rent up so high O'reillys couldnt possibly stay open.
