May 22 2005, 11:34 am
@Carm, no last day for signing up, the regitration page just give us an idea of how many Partnertageskart we need. You can get up to 5 people on one.
Jeeves
May 22 2005, 4:42 pm
I'll jump on that S5 further down the line
Carm
May 22 2005, 5:36 pm
I have a green card for the gesamt netz so I don't need a partner card, and I can take a person with a regular zeitkarte... if that helps!
How, long do you usually stay out there?

Looking like 31°C for Saturday at the minute.
Looks like fun...I'm thinking of riding my bike up from Garmisch and then taking the *burp* train home.
If so, can anyone who is knowledgeable about these strange things called trains tell me if I'd have to go back into Munich first and then drop back down to Garmisch?
Jeeves
May 24 2005, 3:52 pm
Basically yes. S5 as far as
Pasing and onto a Garmisch train there. Or if you feel up to it you can cycle to Tutzing and get on there

There are buses from
Andechs to Starnberg but only about two a day on weekends and not much use with a bike anyway...
Question regarding getting there from the train station: I remember last year me and steveNZ made our way up after the rugby and followed the signs and we ended up going the long way. I remember the first time I went with the whole group it was much shorter.
I will probably be doing the same this weekend so can someone roughly describe the quickest way to walk up the hill?

Bus.

May 24 2005, 4:07 pm
At the sign that says "andechs" in both directions, in front of some stairs, turn left. We went right, which was apparently the long way.

May 24 2005, 4:07 pm
I went up the long way last time and still beat the people who went up the short way. Its going to be a glorious day and the long way is more in the open.

@kza
There are two symbols a triangle and a square. one is for the short route and one is for the longer route. i cant remember which is which but it says on a signpost opposite the station. The symbols are then on posts etc along the way. you follow the ones according to the route you want. I'm not sure how frequent the symbols are thu.
@6783kge thanks but I will have to earn my Doppelbock and Schweinshaxn. I will probably have to take the bus down though!
And thanks others for the info!
i'll come along, the beer those monks are brewing always seems to taste good.
The Crawl
May 25 2005, 8:47 am
If anyone is looking for a job during the summer months The Crawl will be starting up its
Andechs daytime tour again. This is a full day tour and only takes place during June, July and August. Basically we take backpackers up to the little known monastery and show them a good day out. If you're interested PM me.
Cheers

@3 Lions, errm... I thought it was the 10:36
S-Bahn ? are we giving all extra time. With the weather like this, think it is better to get the earlier one, as places/tables will disapear fast !

You've all got a choice - 10.27 or 10.47, if we are all meeting at 10am add at least 15-20 minutes for people to organise their tickets, wont give much time to get on to the platform. Last time we took the 10.47, we had about 40 peeps then and managed to do ok.
If everyone wants 10.27, I suggest meeting earlier.
I also suggest someone phone
Andechs to see if we can book the Terrace. A long shot as we have usually been turned down before now.

Main entrance of
Hauptbahnhof from Hauptbahnplatz, in front of the main ticket area, of which there is also a flourist. Does that help ?

May 25 2005, 12:04 pm
Pepper, the entrance to Cinema is pretty small and well-defined too but Xargy didn't manage to find us there

I reckon the frisbee folks might want to be on the 10:27, I'm happy to sort out a meeting at 10:15 (sharp) to get that one - but we'll only be walking half way then chucking a frisbee around for a bit then walking on for beers.
xargon
May 25 2005, 12:39 pm
Ok, I will be there. I think I know the florist place!
@Jeeves: Ouch! *pulls the knife out of his back* I could not make it last night because of work man
