Kebab Meister
You forgot to call it 'Andrex' treehugger! smile.gif
Carm
What is the last day for signing up? I may have to work. dry.gif
3 Lions
@Carm, no last day for signing up, the regitration page just give us an idea of how many Partnertageskart we need. You can get up to 5 people on one.
Jeeves
I'll jump on that S5 further down the line
Carm
I have a green card for the gesamt netz so I don't need a partner card, and I can take a person with a regular zeitkarte... if that helps!

How, long do you usually stay out there?
SleeplessInMunich
I hope to come along for this trip. If the weather is good of course...
treehugger
@Kebab Meister
You forgot to call it 'Andrex' treehugger! smile.gif

OOpps, will continue to call it Andrex - hate to disappoint tongue.gif
3 Lions
According to the Beeb, the weather is looking good for this weekend.

@Carm, we are usually back by 8pm.
Eric the Hamster
QUOTE
we are usually back by 8pm.

Will be back in time for the footy then smile.gif
3 Lions
Back in time to watch Engerland kick some American butts in a real game of football.
Abs
I'm in and am definitely looking forward to celebrating BSF 21st! See you Saturday!
Kat
Looks like I should make it out for this one. cool.gif I was sorry to miss the last. Looking forward to some good suds in the sun!
3 Lions
Looking like 31°C for Saturday at the minute.
kit
Looks like fun...I'm thinking of riding my bike up from Garmisch and then taking the *burp* train home.

If so, can anyone who is knowledgeable about these strange things called trains tell me if I'd have to go back into Munich first and then drop back down to Garmisch?
Jeeves
Basically yes. S5 as far as Pasing and onto a Garmisch train there. Or if you feel up to it you can cycle to Tutzing and get on there wink.gif
There are buses from Andechs to Starnberg but only about two a day on weekends and not much use with a bike anyway...
Kza
Question regarding getting there from the train station: I remember last year me and steveNZ made our way up after the rugby and followed the signs and we ended up going the long way. I remember the first time I went with the whole group it was much shorter.

I will probably be doing the same this weekend so can someone roughly describe the quickest way to walk up the hill?
6784kqe
Bus.
benpanter
At the sign that says "andechs" in both directions, in front of some stairs, turn left. We went right, which was apparently the long way.
3 Lions
I went up the long way last time and still beat the people who went up the short way. Its going to be a glorious day and the long way is more in the open.
chewy
@kza
There are two symbols a triangle and a square. one is for the short route and one is for the longer route. i cant remember which is which but it says on a signpost opposite the station. The symbols are then on posts etc along the way. you follow the ones according to the route you want. I'm not sure how frequent the symbols are thu.
Kza
@6783kge thanks but I will have to earn my Doppelbock and Schweinshaxn. I will probably have to take the bus down though!

And thanks others for the info!
VDB
i'll come along, the beer those monks are brewing always seems to taste good.
The Crawl
If anyone is looking for a job during the summer months The Crawl will be starting up its Andechs daytime tour again. This is a full day tour and only takes place during June, July and August. Basically we take backpackers up to the little known monastery and show them a good day out. If you're interested PM me.

Cheers
Jason

44 so far signed up.

Plan on getting the 10.47 S5 from Hauptbanhof.
butterbean
man, that's huge. I don't see any newbies though, right? hope they're not avoiding it. anyone that wants to go, but is unsure/doesn't know anyone, feel free to PM me and come mit...smile.gif
Yeti
Probably the newbies are all afraid of going to a little known monastery.
butterbean
you think? did someone spill the beans about mandatory whipping on the way in???
Yeti
Not to mention getting a tonsure shaved and the vow of chastity !

Wish I could go but I'm at the zoo on Saturday with my kids, same thing really just less beer tongue.gif
butterbean
I was told the latter was only binding on the premises...
pepper
@3 Lions, errm... I thought it was the 10:36 S-Bahn ? are we giving all extra time. With the weather like this, think it is better to get the earlier one, as places/tables will disapear fast !
Yeti
Binding ? Well to err is human, to forgive divine.
Eric the Hamster
I have, rather belatedly, added some of my photos from the last andechs trip on the gallery
TCH
I am newbie and will be going. tongue.gif Also looking forward to an ultimate game on the way...
3 Lions
You've all got a choice - 10.27 or 10.47, if we are all meeting at 10am add at least 15-20 minutes for people to organise their tickets, wont give much time to get on to the platform. Last time we took the 10.47, we had about 40 peeps then and managed to do ok.

If everyone wants 10.27, I suggest meeting earlier.

I also suggest someone phone Andechs to see if we can book the Terrace. A long shot as we have usually been turned down before now.
sk8rgrl
Damn! I´m missing this AGAIN!!! sad.gif Uh!...work...
xargon
Ok, I am a bit confused. Exactly what point are we meeting in the bahnhof? Any nearby landmarks are the meeting place?
3 Lions
@Xargon - Meet here at 10am

pepper
Main entrance of Hauptbahnhof from Hauptbahnplatz, in front of the main ticket area, of which there is also a flourist. Does that help ?
Jeeves
Pepper, the entrance to Cinema is pretty small and well-defined too but Xargy didn't manage to find us there ph34r.gif
benpanter
I reckon the frisbee folks might want to be on the 10:27, I'm happy to sort out a meeting at 10:15 (sharp) to get that one - but we'll only be walking half way then chucking a frisbee around for a bit then walking on for beers.
xargon
Ok, I will be there. I think I know the florist place!

@Jeeves: Ouch! *pulls the knife out of his back* I could not make it last night because of work man sad.gif Ask UpQuark!
Jeeves
Just a little cheap fun at your expense mate wink.gif It is Friday afternoon after all. Isn't it?
xargon
No worries. I enjoy it smile.gif
roots
Might join the gang as well. Bring on holy beer smile.gif
Winegirl
@Bp, we are shooting for that train the meet up time is 10am.
benpanter
