I'm trying to plan my two-wheeled adventure to this drunken tomfoolery. What time does everyone expect to arrive and begin the festivities? Noon-ish?
3 Lions
May 26 2005, 11:06 am
Usually we get there just before 12.
Speaking to Winegirl & a couple of others, she wants to take the 10.27 S5 to Herrsching.
As there is possibly 60+ of us going everyone should consider trying to meet earlier than 10am. Say 9.45 or so.Also get in to groups of 5 as soon as possible and get your group tickets.
Partner-Tageskarte Gesamtnetz - 16€
This will set you back a whopping 3,20€
We will wait till 10.20* and then go down to the S-Bahn platform and get the S5 to Herrsching, which is running every 20min.
*For anyone who is late on the day, don’t give up still come along. If there are a few of you, then get the ticket described above, if you are on your own, buy the following ticket and get the
S-Bahn as directed above –
Single-Tageskarte Gesamtnetz – 9€
Once there we will be walking up the hill which should take about 40-45 minutes, just simply follow the signs which say ‘Fußweg nach Andechs’

Way number 8,324 that I know I'm going to die Saturday: I overhear DW and benpanter planning something for my birthday, but I all hear is DW saying "don't worry, I'm trained at an EMT"...
Despite that, I can't wait for this, it's going to be wicked pissa.

May 26 2005, 12:43 pm
ok, just got my meld an for this adventure. As I'm coming from up the S5 line already, so I'll be on the train going through Hbf at 10.27 rather than meeting eary at Hbf (unless someone says otherwise). I'm hoping to meet up with the other UF players, so if ya'll end up going even earlier, let me know!!
Also, what section of the train will the group be getting into? Front half, back half? I'll try to sit somewhere near the spilt so as to enable easy movement to the correct train car.

We were thinking that it might be a problem to get tables at the place at this time so Quarblotz + I will head off early in an attempt to reserve some. We will catch the 9.27 train and head down then, as it is the same price for 2 or 5 people if anyone else wants to come along at that time we will be at the meeting point at around 9.15.
3 Lions
May 27 2005, 9:23 am
If you're going that early, try and get on the Terrace. I doubt you can fend people off tables enough for 60 of us, but you should be able to get a couple. Same will happen as last time, we'll just start taking over.

72 signed up!!! Unbelievable...
I agree with 3 Lions. Meet up at 9.45. As the train leaves every 20 minutes then a few could take the 10.07 train to try and split things up a bit and give a few a head start.

you kids can catch the 10:07 if you like, but you'll find me already with Maß in hand. i'm going to get up early enough to get the even earlier one at 9:47. i'll be at the meeting point until just before then. it can only help to have some bodies there earlier -- with SEVENTY of us! -- and i have to work that night at
the arc so i need an early start.

Don't know about sausages but does anyone know about shoes? It is a 45 minute walk but is it more like a flip-floppy type uphill stroll or more like a rugged walking shoe type hike??
Cheers, let me know
its a fairly smooth path, flip flops will be fine, unless you are german in which case you will need hiking boots, poles, knickerbockers and a little red bandanna to tie around your neck.
treehugger
May 27 2005, 1:38 pm

96 people !!! No way we can reserve tables for that many.
will try to get enough for about 60, with latecomers and no shows i expect this should be enough for a while.
We have made up some reserved signs to put on the tables, touch wood that will keep other people off them for a while

eurovol
May 28 2005, 3:25 pm
Andechs is a monastary/brewery. It is a nice place, but damn full of tourists and locals. You cannot really join in for today's trip as it is a bit late. I am sure there will be other trips and you would be more than welcome to go along and experience whatever it is that makes TTers want to go in the first place.
Im drunk and sunburnt, going to have a cold bath and a nice big sleep. What a great day.

May 28 2005, 11:12 pm
Actually wasn't that crowded today...in fact unbelievably uncrowded

Lovely day...albeit a bit hot

They need more umbrellas at that place for those who do not want to bake in the sun. We should do it again before summer is over! Hope everyone had a great time.
