Day Trip to Andechs Brewery and Monastery

One of my best friends from the US is visting for 4 days at the end of May. I'd like to plan a big Andechs outing on Sat, May 28th. The day also happens to be a TTer's 21st bday and I think (hope) he's coming so it would also be a birthday celebration.

shit, I missed the last one since my parents were here...but I really have no excuse this time...I live 10km from Andechs, so I could either try to meet you on the S-Bahn or I could have my gf drive there...hmm...

This sounds good. Still can't do the hike but could bus it now I think. Yay! Think good weather thoughts everyone.

It should not take 2 hours to walk...unless you get lost...which we did once when my friend was visiting...but even then I think at worst it was an hour and a half...

wait hold on my memory flashback says... arshoo,winegirl,sanielle,crawlie were with me..a few others cant remember it surely took more than an hours walk. it was the long way up they said but we came down the short way that seemed even longer. anyways its the bus for me this time.

Grr. Out of town that weekend. I've lived here almost a year and I have yet to go to Andechs. If I was the sort that inserted smileys I'd throw in whichever one connotes frustration.

Sounds like fun to me, but how do we get there?...

Maybe check out one of the previous threads on Andechs for details, though I'm sure exact arrangements will be made nearer the time. Basically you take the S5 to the end of the line then either bus it or walk the half hour or so to the monastery.
I do have a car but will NOT be using it on that day. Reasons ought to be obvious... I went there once on roller blades and regretted even that on the way home

just as the maibock runs to its end, we go on a pilgrimage for the doppel dunkles! I will try to make it this time...

Is there such a thing as pacing yourself at Andechs? Cuz I need to be able to at least go out for a while that night. If not, then it's going to be one hell of a (un)memorable birthday!

@BSF, you can count on NOT remembering much for your 21st. In fact, you'll be lucky to conjure up vague images of the day about 5-10 years from now... if you're lucky.
