Looking to fly to London in a week and would rather fly into London City airport or Stansted. Any helpful links or suggested airlines would be great.
Owain Glyndwr
a quick check of the Munich Airport homepage tells me that only one airline flies direct from Munich to London City airport. A link to their hompeage is even given.

Cirrus World Airlines

Very easy really. Took me all of three whole long minutes to find out.

Lufthansa fly (or at least flew) to London City, costs a mint but it's a surprisingly convenient airport, and if the company's paying then that's what counts.

EasyJet, one of Europe's scabbiest airlines, herds it's poor unfortunate 'customers' to Stansted. They're a crap airline, usually late, and often awful value for money but they work. You may be lucky and get a really cheap seat, otherwise you'll pay the same as you would to BA or Lufthansa and get bugger all service and... (rant cut off)

according to Munich Airport Website Lufthansa do not fly to London City, only Cirrus.

Easyjet do fly to Stanted. According to the wesite above they are the only airline which flies Munich to Stansted.

So Blitz can chose between Cirrus (which isn't a cheap airline) to London City or Easyjet to Stansted.

All these facts are really easy to check in a matter of a few minutes.

Well, it's not Lufthansa doing the flying, but one of there partner airlines, as OG mentioned it's Cirrus Airlines. However due to CodeSharing These flight are given LH Flight Numbers, and are bookable via LH,Cirrus or Crossair.
.
UPDATE: On the return trip shown below LX=Crossair also an LH Partner airline.
pootle
Cirrus are a lufthansa partner airline (in the same way as eurowings, lufthansa cityline, augsburg airways, air dolomiti & contact air).

Flight codes are LH9486 & LH9488 MUC > LCY

Booking on cirrus or lufthansa should give you the same price, but check carefully... booking via LH can sometimes give you a better deal.

I just checked the Lufthansa site and they do show it as a codeshare but the Munich airport site does not:

both directions shown as being flown by Cirrus

I've flown Cirrus a few times MUC to LCY. Bloody early flights out from here (Yawn), but banking and approach when there's an easterly is awesome. I can't think of a better way to arrive in London. Forget Stansted - I hate that airport, and it's in no-man's land.

I hear you PP. Sleazyjet, as I like to call them, are a bunch of shysters. Once they left me stranded at Stansted due to an evening delay... their rationale for zero compensation was "we are a low-cost airline". Just booked again on them, tho, because I could not find any other times that worked mad.gif shysters..

Something of actual value for you all: http://www.whichbudget.com/en/. This will tell you which LCCs fly where...

Agree with Sin - Stansted is a nightmare and its a pain to get into town from there. Have you thought about flying to London Gatwick - its then only half an hour on the train into Central London ie London Bridge, Blackfriars, Victoria etc. BA sometimes have pretty good prices on that route too.
SleeplessInMunich
There is an express train to Liverpool station from Stansted every 30 mins.
Journey time is about 45 mins.

I flew into Stansted and had no problem. There's a bus that goes to Victoria or Straford. Leaves every 30 min.

in what way is getting into town from Stansted more of a pain than from Gatwick - apart from about 15 minutes?
Blitz
Thanks for the info peeps. The only real reason for the question was that my friend said that either of those locations would be easier to get to his flat (which I now find out is near Tower Bridge). I just asked him how much time he thought it would save me by going to Stansted and he said around 15 min. ohmy.gif Definitely not worth the difference in prices that I have seen by flying into Heathrow. Silly Spaniard, worrying about 15 min. I thought it was going to be something more important than that.

There are new rules about compensation in europe, if a flight is delayed by more than 2 hours, or cancelled, then unless the problem is extreme weather conditions, then the carrier must compensate you to the tune of €400. More for lang haul flights. I would imagine easyjet will be trying to brush up their act as these laws become common knowledge. Stansted is on 40 minutes from the centre of London on the Stansted express, not really in the middle of nowhere.
PiePiper
Yes, never had a problem with Stansted as an airport, and it's relatively easy to get into London from there. It has the added entertainment of being stuffed full of Essex girls on their holidays. Can be quite an eye opener...
