The German Development Rugby League team will play its first ever game in the city of Munich at the Willi Graf Str Sportsground on the 31 July at 1400hrs.The German development team will consist of players mainly from StuSta (Shirt Sponsored by The Arc!), Munich RFC and Heidelberg Sharks. The Germans will face a Scottish Students side who have last year accounted for Serbia and Holland.
The German Rugby League Development team will hopefully soon lead to a National team when hopefully in 2006 a Domestic League is setup. With a National Squad will germany be able to play off for the World Cup in Australia in 2008.With the game now being played at domestic level in Holland, Russia, Georgia, Serbia, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Estonia, America, Jamaica, South Africa, Argentina, Japan, Singapore, Lebanon and Tonga and Samoa as well as the old timers in England, Australia, New Zealand, France and Papua New guinea it should in time see somebody challenge the Aussies as well as England, France and new Zealand finally.
With record crowds in Australia and the UK and with the SOO 3 game series more or less sold out as well as big increases in International games in the UK and Australia the game is enjoying a surge in interest.Coca-Cola look likely to sponsor the Russian League, Gillette have agreed to more sponsorship off the Tri Nations which is held in Australasia and UK and with the French team Catalan Dragons (Perpignan) coming into the SuperLeague internationally as well as domestically money is pouring in to the game.
