Work permit in Ireland for spouse of a German

Does this change the work permit regs?

Hello All,

Ok, I know that the "visa/work permit/residency" questions are boring as hell, but I have a quick question. My wife is German and I am American. She has been offered a job in Dublin and we are considering all options. What I can't seem to find the answer to is whether I am permitted to work in Dublin through my marriage to a citizen of an EU member state. I understand all the procedures if we were to come to Germany, but since a "3rd party country" is involved, the proverbial wrench has been thrown. Anyone have any experience with this type of situation?

Seems logical that you would be allowed to work as you are in Germany - they can't exactly allow a German citizen to work all over Europe but not allow their spouse to do so, can they? Why don't you ask the Irish Consulate in Munich?

The Embassy's Website doesn't seem to have any specific information about your situation, but they have a lot of useful information for EU nationals looking to work in Ireland.
