The Auer Dult starts this weekend.

Kids love it too, there are lots of kiddie rides.

Heard froma cop friend that Sarutday night is some weird night where kids go out before mayday and tear the town apart, spraying cars with foam, shaving cream and mayo. never heard of it before, but it's aparantly some sort of youth 'initiation night' or something

On a bit of a downer with this one, but it IS happening this weekend - the Dachau commemorations.

Ah, you mean Teufelsnacht? ie Devil's Night, ie what they do in the US the night before Hallowe'en (I think, according to the film The Crow).

The thing you are referring to is Mai Nacht or something similar. The kids celebrate by doing exactly the sort of thing MightyPies said. However, as far as I am aware they are not actually allowed to do it in larger cities but confine it to smaller towns and villages.

It all gets pretty out of hand though and I have seen a lot of damage done in Neusäß (near augsburg)

Freinacht, it is because the Wehrdienst used to start on May 1st each year so 30th April was the last "Freinacht" - there is also a "Tanz in den Mai" tradition in the North of Germany, but here it is all streamers, shaving foam and similar silliness.

I think I'm going to have to stay in tonight. Our firm had it's Global Day of Caring today and I spent the day with other volunteers from my company fixing a local orphan home playground and throwing a garten fest for the kids. We planted trees and bushes, pulled weeds, and then I was in charge of the sack race. Fun and rewarding, but very tireing! The kids loved it, though, so very very worth the effort.

I'm considering a pass to go out tomorrow night.

The weekend has landed. All that exists now is clubs, drugs, pubs and parties. I’ve got 48 hours off from the world, man. I’m gonna blow steam outa my head like a screaming kettle and talk codshit to strangers all night. I’m gonna lose the plot on the dance floor; the free radicals inside me are freaking man! Tonight I’m Wee Mun Travolta, I’m Peter Popper - I’m going to Never Never Land with my chosen family man. We’re gonna get more spaced out than Neil Armstrong ever did. Anything could happen tonight ya know! This could be the best night of my life! I’ve 73 quid in my back burner, I’m gonna wax the lot, the Milky Bars are on me. Yeah!

I am going to go home take a shower get to pub at about 7pm. Drink about 15 beers, maybe vodka if I feel too full. Stagger home and wonder how I got there when I wake up in the morning.
