Is there good PDA shop in Munich? I'm searching for PDA of Sony brand. (It seems, Sony PDAs are not presented in market.)

THX!

Sony stopped making PDA's for Europe and North America in 2004, and has recently announced that it will stop making them for Japan (July 2005).

I don't know how hard it is to get old or imported PDA's, but I would advise thinking twice about investing in a dying product line.

There is one in Obersendling. It's right at the Hoffmanstrasse-Gmunder Strasse junction.

But drw is right...

Besides the Sony PDA were shite...

I tend to point most people towards one of the following:

1. Siemes Pocket Loox 720 (718-Same as 720 but without Camera)
2. HP IPAQ 3700, 4200 or for the person with $$$ the 4700 series
3. Palm (for people with not much $$$) Unless you want the newest Tungsten

If you want a cheap but good PDA, I have a Palm M505 (Actually 2) already
updated and converted to english. If your intrested PM me...

I am just looking for some shops with low prices and high quality . :-)
I think firstly I need to have a look.
it seems HP iPaq and SOny SJ20 ... etc... should be some popular choices.

battery should be good enough because I want to use it read some books.
or maybe somebody can suggest me that it is useless than what I've thought.

any comments are welcomed. :>

//thanks

The screen size is pretty small - I prefer talking books and an iPod. Cheaper, too although you can't run navi software on an iPod ... well, you could, but I don't wanna.

I use my Palm to read books. I don't have a problem with the screen size.

im very tempted to get a palm lifedrive. does anyone have any comment on these?

im also interested to know in general with PDAs, :
- what peoples experiences are using PDAS with WIFI hotspots
- those who read books. how easy is it to read ? do you scroll pages or turn page by page.
- what sort of battery life do you get when using as an MP3 player and alos when using it to surf via a hotspot?

www.amazon.de also sells PDAs.

I love my Zire 31, and I can use it to read books. Battery seems to be good for about a week of normal use. My husband bought it at amazon.de.

@bicket06

Unlike the old skool palms the new lifedrive's battery life sucks...
It's Expensive (You can get a nice Loox 720 or IPAQ that has waayyy more functionality)
It's not as fast as it should be, and gets really sluggish when your running more than 3 programs.

It looks cool but thats about it..

There are many reviews of this device on the net. Goto google and do a search for them...

I can't comment on WiFi usage with a PDA, but I'd also like to hear how well it works and whether there are enough hotspots in Germany to make a WiFi card worthwhile.

There are many book-reading programs for the Palm. Page-turning is more common, but some programs have auto-scrolling as well. The Plucker program (an offline web-page browser - extremely useful) also has a drag-to-scroll functionality.

It doesn't seem like playing mp3's significantly affects battery life. I think the kind of things that run down the battery quickly are backlight, Bluetooth, and WiFi.

Wifi on a PDA works fine, however the wifi card doesn't have the same power output as a normal PCMCIA wifi card so the useable distance will vary. Also don't expect to get the full speed either.

There are 1000's of accesspoint in germany, which makes getting a device with wifi very practical. There are even programs for the PDA (Windows based PDA's) that will allow you to use it a a phone for VOIP.
This is just one of the cool things you can't do with a palmOS based device.

Again, as for which device to get I'd still go with either the Fujitsu pocket loox 720 or the HP IPAQ HX4700.

I have need one of those fold away keyboards for an XDA IIi I brought over from the UK, as well as a charger for it. I saw a nice Bluetooth one at

http://www.thepocketsolution.com/Merchant2...roduct_Count=11

which is a US site, but I don't want to have to order it from the USA. I didn't have much success over the weekend with the various O2 shops and didn't see much in Saturn at Karlsplatz. I'm not necessaraly after this particular keyboard, any would be fine. I guess I need a PDA specialist shop. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Kind Regards,
Shane Cook.

What about an Asus A730W ? (http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=8&l2...469&modelmenu=1)

I might be tempted to sell it, because since July '05, I only used it like 5-6 times. PM if interested. wink.gif

If it's a Bluetooth KB your looking for then most if not all BT keyboards on the market will work with the XDA/MDA. It's a standard protocol. Look on Ebay, there are lots of BT KB's to be found, even the new laser keyboard.
