Scrapbooking - family albums and such

Where to buy supplies, and who here is interested?

This is a particularly girly post from me, but I've been hankering to start scrapbooking. If anyone out there already does it and would like to perhaps meet up sometime to discuss it (and show me their wares), I'd like to hear from you.

Gotta run now, but will respond to any questions later. As for what it is, you have a computer and Internet, use it.

I will get my wife to join you. We have pics and baby stuff that need the treatment, but I have not seen a scrapbooking superstore anywhere in Germany. Ok, I wasn't really looking. wink.gif
DDBug
They have stores for that? We just made our own. Ok, I did buy the baby scrapbooks, and haven't done a "grownup" one (heck - I never even managed to get the baby ones through their first year)

Theres a great firefox extension called scrapbook, lets you select part of a web page and save it just by dragging and right clicking, and access it quickly again via the sidebar. Very handy for doing research and gathering up relevant snippets of info from widely dispersed sources.
Showem
Kza, that's a very cool tool you are describing. Might have to get Greg to try it out and see if it convinces me to switch from Maxthon, my Explorer skin. However, I was refering to the more physical version.

Anyone else interested?
Red
I'm interested... I received an empty scrapbook as a baby gift and have about 6 million pictures waiting to be organized but haven't had a chance to start yet.
Johnny English
@Showem - a Maxthon convert!!! Greatest thing since sliced bread. I pity the others still messing with other options.

Just wondering if anyone else out there scrapbooks. I need to catch up on my kids albums and could use some company and motivation to do this. Also any suggestions on where to buy supplies?

I know of a shop in Würzburg... but not here in Munich. But I might suggest some of the craft shops, or ebay.

Thanks for all the responses. I was talking about physical scrapbooks;fun paper, cropped pics, stickers and all. Anyone who is interested could pm me and we could set up a date at my house. I have a big dining room table, some supplies and always good munchies. I was kind of thinking 2x's a month. Suggest nights that might be good for ya'll morngins could also work. Yes I am a native TXan.

Let me know.

My sis works for Creative Memories in the USA - home-based scrapbooking business (like Avon, Tupperware, etc.). The German headquarters is here in Munich, near the airport. I think my sis has contacts there if you are interested in ordering supplies, I can get you contact info. She could ship from the USA, but that would be pricey! Unfortunately, all my supplies are still in the USA. It was more important for me to have clothes here than scrapbook stuff. If you start a group, let me know.

Anyone who is interested in getting together to do this please PM me. I was thinking about Mon/Tues nights 2x's a month. The creative memories contact would be awesome. I am happy to share some of my supplies. I brought my stuff because I didn't want to get too far behind and well... its already happening. Is morning or evening better for folks? Let me know so we can get scrapping. Lori

Hi Lori, Hi Showem,

sorry for my late response to this, but I am new to TT (isn't it great?).

My wife is a Creative Memories consultant here in Munich and mother of our three small kids, she is British but also speaks German.

I hope your get together in Sept/October went well? If you are still looking for a supplier for scrapbooking and photoalbums, or someone to host parties for you and friends she would be pleased to hear from you. Just send us a PM (I guess that means personal message?) email, or post your contact details in the forum. I will also PM both of you to make sure this gets through after all this time.

Take care

So I have been busy scrapping the last week or so trying to catch up a bit. I am going to Wurzburg for the weekend and was wondering if anyone needs stuff from the arts store that Carm mentioned or if you have more info about the store before I go. We never ended up getting together to work on this stuff is anyone still interested if so please PM me with two day or evenings that work for you.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had actually found a scrapbook store in Munich? My wife would like to buy some supplies. Is the one near the airport that was mentioned a walk-in store, or mail order only? Thanks!
Yandi
This Creative Memories page has an email address. Shoot them an email - you'll probably end up with a personal consultant to buy from.

If you do, send us an update, I will need to restock my CM supplies soon.

Hi,
There is a craft store right next to the Mathäser movie theater at Karlsplatz on the lower level where you go for the Ubahn. Thats the best selection of craft supplies I have found so far. There are also a few german scrapbook websites... I don't remember the exact names but one is www.scrappiness.de and then there is www.scrapbook-center.de and also www.scrapbookshop.de
Hope this helps.

There's a recently opened scrapbooking shop, west of Munich. It's just behind Hornbach (Freiham) according to this: http://www.scrappies.de/kontakt.htm

And they are planning workshops and classes, here's a link to website for more info: http://www.scrappies.de/english.htm
