Which programmes do you enjoy?

Right then,

Following yesterdays thread, and being in a better mood seeing as my daughter didn't wake up at 5am this morning, and also having met a lot of you last night, I realise that I actually watch some of the stuff. I've changed my mind! tongue.gif

Right then - what good German TV shows are there?

I will start with Wetten Dass...?
acockreland2balls
...TV-Muenchen Oktoberfest ... always happening, good live and direct telly
Kza
I quite like this show on the sports channels between midnight and 6am. It concentrates on women a lot as they go about their normal day to day lives, so I am assuming its some sort of feminist documentary or something. Not sure as I cant understand much of the language, but you dont have to really as the visual aspects of the show are entertaining on their own.
boomtown_rat
make your ***** mind up!
grtho
Good German TV:

Sendung mit der Maus
Europa Blick
WeltSpiegel
Bulle von Tölz
Evelyn Harmann's Geschichten aus dem Leben
Weiß Blauen Geschichten
Eisenbahn Romantik from SWR
Zimmer Frei!
boomtown_rat
ZDF documentaries
ZDF/ARD sport
selection of films
Klaus Kleber on heute-journal
JB Kerner
Frontal 21
various themes on alp doctor etc!
ZDF krimis
Katrina
München 7
Irgendwie und Sowieso
Edel & Starck
ARD Büffet
Einsatz in 4 Wänden
Wetten dass...?
Tatort especially the Munich and Frankfurt ones
patster
Where´s BBC World gone? All I get is a french channel, even though the cable box says BBCW.
jeremy
patster , aye I had noticed too. Mind you it was shite though.

*waits for "hypocrite" comments*
grtho
BBC World, what a load of bollocks!

<stirs pot>

Cop shows with Hannelore Elsner and Hannelore Hogger in leading roles.
Spanks the arse of "Juliet Bravo" laugh.gif
Gen
more recommendations here in the GEZ thread

And I like the Supernanny, though it was apparently copied from some other country. Pädagogisch wertvoll.
Beg Tets
IMHO about the only things worth watching are:-

Lenßen & Partner
K11
Galileo
The news where you get reruns of the ARD news from 25 years ago - very interesting.

But now we've got sky the only thing we watch on german TV is the weather and occasionally the news. Not that most of the stuff on sky is much cop either though mind.
latecomer
when i used to watch german telly it was mostly US stuff dubbed, or explosiv! type investigative shows. i actually love the DIY show that used be on ("Die Selbebauer"?) and there was great car crash TV on about people have kids, generally with very reluctant fathers... Babyalarm or something?

but most of the time we just got bored having to pay attention and just surfed the channels continuously. i got premiere for the football and other sport but i was shocked at how few channels it had, compared to the US or sky. odd i always thought.
grtho
@ Big Tets, Galileo is very low end imvho, look out for "Quarks and Co" made by WDR, much higher class and a better looking presenter! wink.gif
Marty
Harald Schmidt
most Tatort
Kalkofes Mattscheibe
Tagesthemen
Topsy
They do have some decent documentaries. I like Arte, 3Sat, Vox (sometimes), WDR. They are good channels.
But I don't really watch much telly, regardless of the lingo. I'd rather surf or play games.
Wee Mun
Fit For Fun is a great program on VOX, I would say that of course because I was on it singing Karaoke smile.gif
More tea, Vicar?

Lenßen & Partner ???
K11 ???

you have GOT to be shitting me? Those are the worst dribbles of shit ever to come out of the massive fake reality TV pie of shit. The acting is SO bad, the stories are pure rubbish.
oh well, each to their own smile.gif

I really enjoy Harald Schmitt, TV Total can be funny, Bullyparade used to be good
Chuck Fadanoid
Bob Ross at about 1am on Bayern Alpha - good after-boozing TV.

Can't watch the cop shows here because I cannot put myself in the position to be sympathetic towards German policemen. They're totally unrealstic too, showing the cops risking life and limb to tackle actual criminals instead of spending most of their time harrassing people going about their daily business. "In this week's Alarm Fuer Medicopter 11 our heroes wait at the end of the street to catch cyclists whose lights don't work."

Best thing on German TV though is Dragonball Z. End of.
grtho
Don't watch the SHITE "Alarm for Kora11" bollocks!

Go for the murder / drama detective shows on ARD / ZDF - Hanelore Hogger and Hannelore Elsner as "Bella Block" and "Die Kommisarin" are your friends.

Usually quite deep with a psychological twist. And no, they don't spend their day at Hbf harrasing punk kids for one little joint either! wink.gif
bubblylady
i love "Der Bulle von Tölz" but it is not very hard to understand
grtho
Good practice your Bavarian Bubblylady, gell? cool.gif

Now call me Dierdre if you want but would you not class The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross as US TV? By the way. It is also on at 6.15 on Saturdays...

Mind you. That man is absolute class mate. Complete nutcase who lost touch with reality years ago (oh shit... seem to be describing myself again) but class...
kathie
Not only did he lose touch with reality years ago, he lost touch with most things... he's dead.
Carm
I like Sam with Sylivia Hoven- she is a patient. I also like Planetopian and Focus TV, the news programs are ususually good.
Paul
I hear "Verleibt In Berlin" is good. Not that I would watch such rubbish myself... *cough* no sir. Not me...
RPW
Panorama Bilder... the most beautiful, pointless show on TV. Versions for Bavaria and Austria alike, wonderful to wake up to...
Chuck Fadanoid
Anyone remember Tutti Frutti? I think it was on RTL ... made us all at school wish we had German TV in the UK smile.gif When did they stop showing it?
jeremy
That the one with the bloke dressed as a woman?
PiePiper
Musikantenstadl - The cheesy crappy music, the bad miming of the 'stars', the slightly confused silver haired audience clapping off time, and all this at prime time on Saturday. Only in Germany...

Oh, and it winds the locals up if you tell them you're a really big fan of 'their culture' - another advantage.

PP
jeremy
That link has James Last and Glenn Miller - classic.

If it's the clap clap stuff I saw last Saturday it had aguy dressed as a chicken singing. Good entertainment. Not.

Keep it positive Jeremy...

Target audience though innit.
Most TT ers would be out in the pub or whatever Sazturday night whereas you don't see many gtannies shaking their booty at a funky nightclub off their faces do you?

Nah, it was the one where the contestants had to strip.
Checken Sie out: Tutti bleedin' Frutti, innit

Edit: could well have had a bloke dressed as a woman, but I don't remember that. Are you thinking of that Wahre Liebe thing?
Alys
I've been here a month now and despite 28 cable channels I haven't found a single German programme I like! I'm not an English t.v. fan either, usually only watch it for the footie and the odd film, but none of my 28 channels here seem to offer anything interesting. I find myself leaving it on sometimes merely to keep me thinking in German rather than English (purposely don't have English channels). I did find "Akte X" recently, which was great, though rather late at night (even if Sculy does have a very deep voice!)
Kat
@Alys - I love Scully's deep German voice. It's much more sexy than her real voice!
I remember when German TV was nothing but a test pattern most of the day, so I'm not going to complain about it now. I watch tv maybe twice a month, but I usually find something interesting when I bother to turn the thing on.
