Die Lange Nacht der Musik München

Saturday, May 7th Munich will host the Long Night of Music with 4 bus tours taking you to approx. 100 live music destinations around Munich all night long. All kinds of music will be represented.
The website of full info is here. Unfortunately in German.
I found some English info here, but it's sketchy.
We should try to get a few groups (split perhaps by music taste) together to tour the hotspots. It can be quite a bit of fun, but takes some planning to get the best out of it.
I'm kind of busy at work today, but I'll see if I can do the homework necessary for planning the right pub crawl for a full night of Alternative music (my preference).
Kat
I'd been hoping Sin could help plan, but it's his son's birthday that day.
So - anyone have some suggestions for a route?
Sin
Kat,

I would strongly recommend that you dress up and start with something light (music-wise) and at a location where you can eat. Maybe Hot Bananas at Restaurant Uhu. Avoid the BMW pavillion at Lenbachplatz like the plague. You'll just find very tame music and a hundred posers. Personally I would then move on to the Bayerisher Hof to see Souled Out. The quality of the music there is always good, the location splendid, even if the drinks are PRICEY!!! Drink slowly. Next I would chill out with some trad blues and head up to Alfonso's, a really tiny place off Münchner Freiheit for Blue Ox, and finally end the night with a really good laugh (because you should be drunk by then) and go to Bel Étage to see the Travestite show Miss Dominique & Friends.

Remember, you are not going to fully enjoy each act if you rush from place to place. You're going to need at least an hour/90 mins at each location, plus travelling times.

How much of 100 destinations can you see in one night? I have never been to this one but I went to one when I was in Starnberg couple of years ago and they had about 10-12 bands which gave us enough time experience each of them. Not sure I can handle 100 in one night ohmy.gif

Of course we can't see all 100 locations in one night, so the thing that needs to be done is choose the 3 or 4 best ones, as Sin suggested. In fact, I really like everything he suggested.

If enough people post that they're interested in the all night live music pub crawl, I'll draw up a route and timetables for it. There will be special buses for this running all night.

@Eds: Maybe this thread should be moved to TT-Meetups or split to there for planning.

Well I'm glad you feel useful Sin, but so far it's just us talking, and you can't even come. There seems to be strangely little interest in this so far. Normally, there's so little live music on offer in Munich and I miss that. I wonder why no one else seems to? huh.gif
Isn't anyone else keyed up for this? Please post! There have to be more music lovers on this board than just us?! rolleyes.gif

I'ld be up for this but due to my hectic social schedule (ha ha ha ad nauseam) I'll have to make up my mind later.

You do need to plan it though and concentrate on 2 or 3 gigs otherwise you'll get that "absolutely knackered after only two hours in a museum" feeling or you can ask Roots if you can borrow his bilocation superpower for the evening.

If this is anything like the museum night you'ld be better off cycling or walking if possible as the buses were jointed (full, heaving, jammed, stuffed) that night and I do love an old MVG sauna.
Sin
I'm going to dare to ask *whispers* 'she who must be obeyed' if I can get a free pass for that night, but I am 99% sure it is impossible. If you don't hear from me again, it's because she defenistrated me for asking.

Sounds interesting Kat, but all night buses would presumably only run in the city, not allowing for someone living south of the city to get home? Wouldn't it also be a pretty expensive night?
