Nightlife in Munich - Wednesdays and Thursdays

Where to go?

Greetings,

Could someone recommend a decent lounge/clubs for Wed and Thr nite. We are looking for 25+ older crowd. I 've been to Papasitos (sp?) and I thought it was decent...

Thanks in advance.

If you don't mind the crowd of wannabe executives then you can go to Park Cafe on Wednesday and Pascha on thursday. Pascha is a little better because you can choose to party, dance etc.. downstairs and then relax and eat some sushi upstairs in the lounge where it's more quiet. But beware of the door men if you are planning on going without any females. Reischule Cafe is also a fun place on thursday nights after work. The free buffet and bottle of proseco isn't bad.

The Cafe Freiheit is a beautiful place to see beautiful and approachable people. The staff all speak English, the food is superb.

Thanks for the info! Is there something going on at Park Cafe. I noticed it was closed on Fri nite...

Could someone tell me where The Cafe Freiheit is located?

Thanks again!
fusilli
yeah parkcafe is big on wednesdays. Fridays closes sometimes for personal parties. That's what i've seen the past two weeks there. Cafe Freiheit sounds like it is near Munchener Freiheit on Leopoldstr. Skyline possibly? but i'm not sure. Also tomorrow the Toytown people go to Murphy's (irish bar) to have some drinks if you wanna go there.
bluesky
Cafe Freiheit, Leonidstrasse 20, 2 blocks from the Rotkreuzplatz U Bahn

I second the park cafe and reitschule points. lehnbach is not bad either. also check out lizard lounge near fraunhofer strasse and nektar in haidhausen

? you're having a larf aint ya? its quite possibly the biggest pile of pretentious w@nk i've ever had the displeasure of enduring.
CodeRed
cafe freiheit: it is actually leonrodstrasse corner of Landshuter Allee.

For really cheap after work partying go to either one of the locations (P,P,RS), go early, eat the buffet, flirt with the prosecco bar girls and make them like you, then dig into the prosecco for free all night long.

Okay, I know, I am a cheap bastard.
CodeRed
@flogger.
agree.
bluesky
right you are code red, thanks!
Uncle Jamal
Flogger has it spot on. Lehnbach is for proper gorgonzola penises.

Anybody going out tonight? I've gone through the posts and don't see anything formally scheduled. Just missing hanging out and speaking english, haven't met anyone from TT yet. My German friends are all so nonspontaneous.
Katrina
Bluesky, are you on drugs or something? wink.gif
Cafe Freiheit is terrible. The food is bad, the customers have a severe attitude problem and are mostly mutton dressed as lamb - a 40+ crowd still trying to be cool.
The staff do not all speak English but they do speak rude quite fluently.
I live extremely close to Cafe Freiheit (i.e. within 100 metres) and have given up on the place. I'll stick to The Big Easy and Ysenegger thanks.
Katrina
PS Pacha on Thurs is Rn'B Night isn't it? Their business clubbing is on Tuesdays. P1's is on Mondays. Try also Monofaktur (Sonnenstr.) or Präger Frühling (Jazz on Weds, Brit Pop on Thurs, near MUC-Freiheit).
bluesky
Katrina, where else do 40ers trying to be cool go, cause that describes me perfectly. I'd appreciate it, really.

No on the drugs.

We're neighbors.
Katrina
I wouldn't go there regardless of age (I'm 31). Everytime I walk past it I shudder. The guy who runs it has a brother and the brother runs the Ysenburg (which also isn't much use and he owns two snappy, badly behaved dogs).
Café Ruffini? Café Puck? Löwengarten? There are lots of good places in the area, Café Freiheit isn't one of them. Of course if you actually enjoy bad service do also try Pardi, famously terrible staff and a similar crowd but at least the food is edible.
Katrina
Keydeck
Katrina, I thought the service in Pardi was great. I've eaten there quite a few times and have never had a problem. Lots of staff and all good for a laugh. Maybe you've just been unlucky, or I've been very, very lucky. Or maybe I'm part of that famously terrible crowd sad.gif
jordigo
I kindof disagree on the lehnbach thing. the venue looks nice and is big. you also get buffet and prosecco. plenty of nice to look at. ignore the blokes in suits (personally I never wear a suit)
Keydeck
I'd agree with Jordi on Lenbachs. Yes there is a certain level of pretentiousness about the place, but it's a good spot and on a good night you can have a great time there. I'm not a suit wearer either. Last time I donned a tin of fruit was for a funeral and the family of the deceased accused me of trying to look like an FBI agent. That was the end of that.
bluesky
Okay, now I'm curious about Lenbachs, guess I'll see for myself.
Katrina
Keydeck, I think you were very lucky. I like the food in there very much but after having been asked to move tables 3 times during the course of a meal the last time I went, I said never again. I've been there 4 times and every single time there was a problem, things forgotten, tables changed, just hassle. Many of my neighbours say the same so even in the summer I don't see people from our street sitting outside (unlike Ysenegger or Big Easy or Ruffini...it is a nice area and people do tend to say hello or nod to each other). We see the manager in the street (for it is on the corner of the the street where I live) and he asks why we don't come in and we keep going towards The Big Easy. And every time we remind him why. He's a nice enough bloke but his service staff are dreadful.
There is a lot I will put up with for a good meal (and the food really is good) but Pardi has a core clientele and less regular guests are pushed out the way to keep those customers happy which is something I don't agree with. Unfortunately the manager is happy with how things are so I'll keep taking my Euros elsewhere.

Where is Lenbachs located? I did a search in All of Munich but nothing came up.

I would be up for at least checking it out.
Keydeck
3 times in the course of a meal!! Did you actually move 3 times? I can understand if it's in a bar and it's a stammtisch table, but if I've got food in front of me anyone asking me to uproot is gonna be told very quickly where to go.

Obviously we disagree on the service in Pardi, so I'd suggest Bluesky you check it out yourself and see what you think. Both myself & Katrina agree that the food there is very good, but you'll have to decide on the service yourself smile.gif

Maybe what they need is a big crowd of TTers one night to get them on track. biggrin.gif

Lenbachs is at, wait for it, near Lenbachplatz.

It's Ottostrasse 6
80333 München

Did move twice (once after the food had arrived) and then was asked to move to give way to a regular (being told that two late 40-something women were part of a large party which mysteriously never appeared...) and that was when it was all over between Pardi and us wink.gif
Herr Indoors was with me so I think that is what calmed me down (he is a very good influence!).
The food *is* good though.

@keydeck

Thanks. I agree with you as well on the move. Once maybe, but once into the meal, it just wouldn't be happening, unless the manager was willing to comp the entire meal.
