Tanz Schule im Deutschen Theater

That weblink will take you to the Tanzschule at the Deutsches Theater ... their beginners courses can be taken without a partner (I'm doing one at the moment) and if my teacher's anything to go by the standard is fantastic and not all that expensive. Anything more advanced needs a partner.

...really good instructors, and they're really friendly too.

Try also the 'Latin Lounge' Salsa evening at Lacant Night Club on Friday evening from 21:00hrs. 30-45 minute lesson then Salsa, Merenge, Bachata and latin Chart mix all night. Details at:

http://www.Lacant.de

I can vouch for the quality of the venue and the teaching (from Hakan). The music is also a cut above most Salsa venue as it includes merenge, bachata and latin chart mix. And only 6 euros, so not bad value.

I think you'll need to come with a partner though as they don't rotate partners like we do with the Ceroc evenings.

You'll be a dance diva in a few weeks and the girls will all want to know you biggrin.gif

i particularly like salsa at Max Emanuel's in schwabing albertstr. and El Palacio de la salsa in kunstparkost. both great fun. no one needs to bring a partner to dance with. That's boring. You need to dance with many different people in order to improve your dancing skills. there are plenty of men and women waiting to be asked to dance. so just ask.

Looking for some lady who loves latinmusic as much as I do and wants to go dancing.

Your level isn´t that important.
pepper
Well I started my Salsa dancing classes this Monday. Complete beginner ! It's lots of fun !
chickmunks
where do you take the classes`?
pepper
Well, Monday I am off for my second Salsa class, and well they are actually great fun, well its worth laughing at yourself every now and then !
EUnomad
I love salsa dancing.. let me know when you need a partner.. I am past beginner but then the men have to do most of the work ...
Eleanor_Rigby
I'd be interested! Where are you planning on taking the lessons?
pepper
I take mine already, at a place near Universität. But they start a new beginners course first week of Feb. I'll find out the exact details again and post them.

Hi there -
Am looking for people to to go out and dance salsa ( rueda, cubean salsa ) on Thursdays & Fridays. Was learning it about one year and would like to keep learning .. Anyone interested ??
Shaggy
am really up for checking out Salsa but just not got my act together...

Pepper- what nights are these?
blue- have you got a venue already set up? Have a few others that would be up for this...
Tania
Salsa sounds fun... do I have to find a partner before I sign up to any of those courses or would I be provided with one (if I'm lucky)?
Shaggy
@belleaszn- am sure there'll be a spare guy on TT for you wink.gif
Tania
Would be nice if one doesn't have to look for (or in the most desperate cases, force) a partner to get into the course, right.
chickmunks
you don´t have to force anyone into a course.

A small group of us will be going next friday to palcia de la salsa.

For the beginners there will be a introduction for half an hour and then everybody can dance as they want
Tania
Would you be so kind to provide me with any link I could check for additional info? Thanks in advance.

No venue at the moment ..
Next friday, won´t be available but if we could set up something for next week, I am totally up for suggestions and meetings with anyone.

Finally, my good intentions to learn Salsa have become reality! Did a beginners course in January - last class tonight. Tomorrow is our "Abschluss Party" in Palacio at Kunstpark! Place I went to is in the back arse of nowhere unless you happen to live in Obersendling(Body Factory - Hofmannstr. 7) but the people/teacher were all very friendly. A mixture of couples and singles(me included!) so there's always someone to dance with. Follow on course starts next Friday(4th Feb.) - suitable for people with the basics behind them! Of course the classes are in German so you need to speak the lingo or just copy what everyone else does!!
chickmunks
after recieving a few PM´s from interested salsa dancers.

We could set up one night at the palacio de la salsa for all TT´ers who wanna come.

Who want´s to come and what day?
pepper
Errmmm.. I need a few more weeks, still have two more lessons to go, although this is only a beginners course, I am not sure I am ready to go out and Salsa dance and actually make a fool of myself !
Elfenstar
keep this thread alive! i know my bf is looking for a salsa dance partner. i like to dance, but am not so fanatical about it. of course if he found a gorgeous dance partner i might suddenly get interested!
anyhow, he is an intermediate dancer. been salsa dancing for about 5 years now.
Mobydick
I was introduced to Salsa last weekend when I went partying with some friends. Just loved the experience and would love to get some basic training now.

I am planning to sign up for the beginners Salsa course at Salsa Y Corazon. Met the instructor at Kultfabrik and she seems very nice (and speaks fluent English!). I am planning to sign-up for the 5-week beginners course with classes every Friday (see this for schedule/fee info: http://www.salsa-y-corazon.de/neu/kurse.html#Basics). The first class is on 18 Feb.

I am looking for a female partner for the course. Ideally, someone fun loving with no prior formal training and someone who would also be keen on practicing (and partying!) on Fri/Sat nights. If you are interested, please send me a PM to discuss further.
JoolyBooly
ooh, I really should start this, keep meaning to. But can't on Fridays... Is anyone going to do the Twisted Bavarian's salsa course? Think it starts soon, on Wednesdays...
pepper
I go to a really good one which is on Monday's. I will def get the details today, and post the web page here. The teacher only speaks German, but last week found out the the second teacher (one's a man the other a woman) speaks perfect English. He runs two course, one in Rosenheimer Strasse and the other near Universität.
madgibson
@ JB

Saw that Twisted Bavarian have Salsa on Wednesdays. Would like to give it a go sometime! It seems they have an hour's crash course before the dancing begins. I need to practice - did a beginners course and now on next level. Anyone else interested in trying it out? They have jumbo Mojitos too(a bit of dutch courage??!).
JoolyBooly
it's a cert for me, will ask Dory tomorrow when it starts... the guy who does it is supposed to be really good, and I think he's ex-pat so english isn't a problem
Nicky
Is there salsa this wed at TB?
madgibson
Not sure if it's on every Wed. Can't make it tonight anyway but what about trying it out next Wed. (16th Feb.)? Not much info on TB website but I get the impression it's not formal classes just a crash course(Einführungsstunde) and then off you go!! I'm up for it anyway - any other takers?
JoolyBooly
yep yep yep, forgot to ask Dory yeterday but will pop in and ask tonight... and excuse for a sneaky one on the way home biggrin.gif
32D
Maybe I can think of too... Btw, No need to bring partners I suppose? wink.gif
madgibson
Can't make it after all tonight - shame! sad.gif Will try next week instead. Hope to meet some other Salsa enthusiasts/beginners there! smile.gif
Granny
Can I ask if it's all young folk, would a mature person look out of place?
32D
I went last Saturday. It was good. There were ppl elder to me. So I dont think it would matter. I suppose that would be the case on wenesday too. Btw, ur profile doesnt tell if u r above 100 either!
madgibson
Anyone want to go along this Wednesday(23rd) and give the Salsa a go? I need to practice what I've learnt in my class!! I presume it's on every Wed.?
Granny
Thank you 32D, I may give it a go when the road conditions are a bit better. Age doesn't really matter as I'm only old when I look in the mirror. In saying that, my dodgy left hip may give me away.

Dancing is a great form of keeping fit, I really miss it. Poor Opa always looks as though he's forgotten his "epilum" on the dance floor, that's why I'm looking for something that I can do alone.
shanaxo
Anyone planning another Salsa dancing group get together again soon? I would really love to try, but I'm not brave enough yet to venture on my own.

32D
Me too.
bonydebbie

xargon
I have no desire to prove anything by dancing. I have never used it as an outlet or a means of expressing myself. I just dance. I just put my feet in the air and move them around. --Fred Astaire

Great dancers are not great because of their technique; they are great because of their passion. --Martha Graham

Learning to dance...interesting concept tongue.gif j/k.
roots
La Cumbia in Kolumbusplatz have free salsa lessons I think every Tuesday.
madgibson
I have my last Salsa class tonight and then tomorrow Sat. we are all off to Palacio2 in the Optimolgelände(think web link was at beginning of thread) to dance the night away. We are meeting at 10.pm. so if anyone wants to come along you´re welcome. There are all levels from beginners to profis so no need to be shy!

Also, rang TB - they are currently looking for a new Salsa teacher for Wed. nights but they claim they play Salsa music every Wed. night anyway.
madgibson
Forgot to say Ißm offline now(no computer at home!!) but Ißll PM my mobile number to 32D incase anyone wants to get in touch.
ameth
