Tanz Schule im Deutschen TheaterThat weblink will take you to the Tanzschule at the Deutsches Theater ... their beginners courses can be taken without a partner (I'm doing one at the moment) and if my teacher's anything to go by the standard is fantastic and not all that expensive. Anything more advanced needs a partner.

Try also the 'Latin Lounge' Salsa evening at Lacant Night Club on Friday evening from 21:00hrs. 30-45 minute lesson then Salsa, Merenge, Bachata and latin Chart mix all night. Details at:
http://www.Lacant.deI can vouch for the quality of the venue and the teaching (from Hakan). The music is also a cut above most Salsa venue as it includes merenge, bachata and latin chart mix. And only 6 euros, so not bad value.
I think you'll need to come with a partner though as they don't rotate partners like we do with the Ceroc evenings.
You'll be a dance diva in a few weeks and the girls will all want to know you

i particularly like salsa at Max Emanuel's in schwabing albertstr. and El Palacio de la salsa in kunstparkost. both great fun. no one needs to bring a partner to dance with. That's boring. You need to dance with many different people in order to improve your dancing skills. there are plenty of men and women waiting to be asked to dance. so just ask.

Would be nice if one doesn't have to look for (or in the most desperate cases, force) a partner to get into the course, right.

you don´t have to force anyone into a course.
A small group of us will be going next friday to palcia de la salsa.
For the beginners there will be a introduction for half an hour and then everybody can dance as they want

Finally, my good intentions to learn Salsa have become reality! Did a beginners course in January - last class tonight. Tomorrow is our "Abschluss Party" in Palacio at Kunstpark! Place I went to is in the back arse of nowhere unless you happen to live in Obersendling(Body Factory - Hofmannstr. 7) but the people/teacher were all very friendly. A mixture of couples and singles(me included!) so there's always someone to dance with. Follow on course starts next Friday(4th Feb.) - suitable for people with the basics behind them! Of course the classes are in German so you need to speak the lingo or just copy what everyone else does!!

keep this thread alive! i know my bf is looking for a salsa dance partner. i like to dance, but am not so fanatical about it. of course if he found a gorgeous dance partner i might suddenly get interested!

I was introduced to Salsa last weekend when I went partying with some friends. Just loved the experience and would love to get some basic training now.
I am planning to sign up for the beginners Salsa course at Salsa Y Corazon. Met the instructor at
Kultfabrik and she seems very nice (and speaks fluent English!). I am planning to sign-up for the 5-week beginners course with classes every Friday (see this for schedule/fee info:
http://www.salsa-y-corazon.de/neu/kurse.html#Basics). The first class is on 18 Feb.
I am looking for a female partner for the course. Ideally, someone fun loving with no prior formal training and someone who would also be keen on practicing (and partying!) on Fri/Sat nights. If you are interested, please send me a PM to discuss further.

ooh, I really should start this, keep meaning to. But can't on Fridays... Is anyone going to do the Twisted Bavarian's salsa course? Think it starts soon, on Wednesdays...

Feb 7 2005, 3:51 pm
I go to a really good one which is on Monday's. I will def get the details today, and post the web page here. The teacher only speaks German, but last week found out the the second teacher (one's a man the other a woman) speaks perfect English. He runs two course, one in Rosenheimer Strasse and the other near Universität.

@ JB
Saw that Twisted Bavarian have Salsa on Wednesdays. Would like to give it a go sometime! It seems they have an hour's crash course before the dancing begins. I need to practice - did a beginners course and now on next level. Anyone else interested in trying it out? They have jumbo Mojitos too(a bit of dutch courage??!).

Is there salsa this wed at TB?
madgibson
Feb 9 2005, 5:59 pm
Not sure if it's on every Wed. Can't make it tonight anyway but what about trying it out next Wed. (16th Feb.)? Not much info on TB website but I get the impression it's not formal classes just a crash course(Einführungsstunde) and then off you go!! I'm up for it anyway - any other takers?

Feb 9 2005, 6:27 pm
yep yep yep, forgot to ask Dory yeterday but will pop in and ask tonight... and excuse for a sneaky one on the way home

Anyone want to go along this Wednesday(23rd) and give the Salsa a go? I need to practice what I've learnt in my class!! I presume it's on every Wed.?

Feb 24 2005, 1:00 am
Thank you 32D, I may give it a go when the road conditions are a bit better. Age doesn't really matter as I'm only old when I look in the mirror. In saying that, my dodgy left hip may give me away.
Dancing is a great form of keeping fit, I really miss it. Poor Opa always looks as though he's forgotten his "epilum" on the dance floor, that's why I'm looking for something that I can do alone.
