Hey everyone smile.gif

Was curious if anyone knew if there is something like your cool Website(Toytown Munich) for the Franken/Oberfranken Area? I would love to find some Employers in advance for my english-speaking hubby and a Website like this would make some things a lot easier for me. Other then that keep up the good work on here cool.gif

PS: If anyone has some Information for us such as Employment ( for Americans),Job Offers,Aktivities, meeting new friends and so on we would truly appreciate it. We will move to Germany in a few months and here in the States some things are a little different then over there.

HOw far from the Munich area are you? Just moved here myself and aren't familiar with the city names. We live in Deggendorf, about 100 kms from Munich

Hi smiley,

I used to live in Bamberg, Oberfranken for quite a while - where are you moving to? If you have any questions, just send me a PM and I will try and help cool.gif

Hi
I used to live in Erlangen and knew some that would commute out of Bamberg to that area. You've got Siemens in the area, Puma, adidas, INA (if he's an engineer - they make ball bearings), teaching (there's an international school plus various language schools)...
brokenm used to live up there too as did a few others.
There is quite a sizeable expat community in and around Nürnberg and Erlangen so quite a few expat bars and it is quite easy to find restaurant menus in English but I would still recommend that you learn as much German as possible.
Good luck with your move!

Yes, If you have questions about the Erlangen area I can probably help. It is a wonderful area of Germany and it is considered the best area for beer as well!!

I also used to live in Bamberg ... lovely little city, it is! Sorry ... can't help you with your question, though. When I was in Bamberg I used to read this forum ... it's close enough, really (i.e. it's not Toytown Berlin!) ... and you'll probably find that there are a significant number of forum participants who do, in fact, live in Ober Franken.

Hi guys,
Have previously posted a message about any expats in this area, but might have done it in the wrong forum.

Have been here just over a month, and I am desperate to make contacts. sad.gif I am here with my husband, who is working for one of the big companies here in Forchheim.

Forchheim quite small, so I am prepared to travel to Bamberg and Erlangen by train, even Nürnberg.

So if you guys could give some info on places to meet expats in this area it would be great. I have mailed most of the women's organisations in the bigger cities, asking whether they had any chapters in this area and the surrounds, but NO reply.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Oh...and will be going to German classes soon, so should be able to communictae a bit better then too.

Thanx in advance

Mel

I see you've already found hunnybunny through the Expatica site.

There's some info about expat pubs on the link hunnybunny started, Nürnberg - Not a single English speaker here

PS. If you're grateful for my help, please send some Fränkische bier urgently ;-)
