I want to call my local post office, I know its on Angererstr.

In the phone book I only found one entry under Deutsch Post, for a number that puts you on a queue. Post has no entries. Internet search turned up nothing.

So how do you find out you local post's telephone number.

i went in to Deutsche Post the other day to complain and she said (of course) that she couldn't do anything to help me, but she gave me a little business card with all their how-to-gripe numbers.

and when i called, of course, the gal on the other end told me she couldn't help me, either.

best of luck...

@JB Yes thats the number I found in the telephone book.

I've just ordered Alice, and they will send me equipment and stuff. But I'm away from Apr 27, to May 9, so the Alice bloke told me to get the post office to hold my parcels instead of sending them back.

So I wanted to phone my post office. I hate this, I'll have to make the trek to them, probably only to be told I have to go to the paket zentrale. It may have been privatised but the post is still an amt.

And there was me thinking I must be awful thick if I couldn't find a phone number meself. I know JB isn't thick and she couldn't either. So I'm not thick. So there.

incredible, huh? Either of us could contact the isreali embassy in Timbuktu or chat to a bunch of betel-nut coloured tribesmen in the lao jungle, but can we get hold of the Post office round the corner?! No chance

@MAM

Perhaps others have had better luck than me, but I found the Deutschepost's Lagerservice to be a load of shit. I paid whatever the fee, came home to a mailbox stuffed with letters after a 6 week trip and the post office had not a single letter for me. Nevertheless, they insisted my mail was held and wouldn't refund what I paid them to do nothing. Crap Deutschepost. mad.gif

You can only do this in person anyway - there's a form to complete and sign.

As IPJ indicates the service is not reliable in any case. Better to give a neighbo(u)r power of attorney ("Vollmacht") to collect parcels from the post office, and a key to your mailbox to check for the delivery card... This also avoids having to find where they are. That's your neighbo(u)rs problem smile.gif

You can actually sign up for the Lagerservice online, though perhaps this was my folly. After you set it up, they'll send you a letter in the mail confirming it.

I'm going to do something eaiser. I'm going to call Alice, and ask them not to send the gear before May 1.
