Best Turkish restaurants in Munich

Where to get good iskander kebab etc.

Bubble Gum
As the title suggests. Anyone know of any good Turkish restaurants with good food+good atmosphere. Memo?
Topsy
You could go to Alan on Maillingerstr.
Nice people.
Kurdish Turks.

Edit: or should that be Turkish Kurds
grtho
Went past that Alan theother week, looks a cut above the usual Kurdish / Turkish places.

Or the other one we went to on Blutenburgerstr: Patata ?
Owner used to drink in my old local.
DDBug
Dilan, on Herzogstrasse.

Anatalia's hands down! It is in the DB klein gartens north of the English Garten in Freimann. Awesome food and all home made.
Toronto
Myra is very good. Not sure what the exact street is...but in the gay area. one of my favorite restaurants...small, but chic. amazing food.
Katrina
Alan is fab, nice people, nice food.
Patata nice but Alan really has great service and a nice atmosphere.
Letoon has nice food but isn't that busy, Pardi's is schicki-micki hell with some of the worse service I have ever experienced (getting asked to move tables 3 times during the course of one meal is not a good advertisement for this place), even the great food won't change my opinion of there.
roots
Dilan, on Herzogstrasse.

100% agreed. It is my most fav Turkish restaurant in Munich. They make one of the very best lamm chops and lamm kabab I ever had. Highly recommended. Very cozy place too.

Without a doubt, Pardis in Neuhausen has got be the best. Excellent service, great food, and cocktails that know you on your butt.
Topsy
Pardi's? Don't think so.
Service is so much up its own arse, it comes out the other end
yoyo
there will always be nay-sayers...but I´ve never had a bad experience at Pardis
grtho
Local people: Where's that Pardis in Neuhausen?
Topsy
volkartstr, on the corner with frundsbergstr
it's the one with the big terrace where you can sit outside in the summer.
Katrina
Along the road from my gaff grtho (i.e. corner of Frundsbergstr./Volkartstr.).
I would not piss on this establishment if they were on fire (even though this could mean that my curtains might smell of smoke).
Nice nosh served by the biggest shower of C U Next Tuesdays in Munich.
grtho
Oh that's the Essex end of the neighbourhood so I never goes there like!
Topsy
There are some nice places up that end of town, though, mind.
Ruffini is one of my faves, I like it there for brekkie
I'm a bit partial to the Ysennegger as well, actually.

I second Myra. The address is Pestalozzistr. 32

Also, Taverna Keko, if you like a more pub kind of atmosphere.
Edlingerstrasse 13, Ubahn Kolumbusplatz.
Topsy
Keko is another good one, would definitely second that.
It's a Kurdish place, though - think they are actually Iraqi rather than Turkish, but I could be wrong. I know a couple of people who used to wait tables there, and they are both Iraqi Kurds. Nevertheless, wherever they come from, the food is excellent there, as are the atmosphere and service.

There is a new one:

But I didn't try it myself.
Memo
There is one on Nymphenburgerstr., pretty close to Rotkreuzplatz, but for the life of me, I can't remember its name.
Bubble Gum
I work around here... oh wait is it off of Nymphenburger strasse, on a little side street? Then I know it, it is pretty good.
Memo
Well, I wouldn't call it a side street. More like the front yard of a building.
It was Nymphenburger Str. 150, I think
Bubble Gum
Thanks Memo and everybody who posted. This is all really really helpful !

Cafe Altschwabing is nowadays run by Turks. The atmosphere is not very Turkish, but the food definitely is. Very friendly service, and it's the only place I know where you can even have Turkish breakfast.
Showem
Was looking for this yesterday and finally found it: Dersim. It's over near Rotkreuzplatz/Mailingerstr. The website isn't fantastic, but the info for location and such is there. When I lived near there, we went there a few times. Always had a nice meal and good service.

Anyone know what's happened to Dilan's in Schwabing (Herzogstr)? I go there very regularly, then one day it just sort of closed down! No notice on the outside if they have relocated or renovating etc. I looked inside and it looks like they are shut down for good!
UrbanAngel
A great one is Myra in the Glockenbachviertel.
Katrina
Letoon closed for good on 30th September 2006 due to a brewery change. It isn't quite clear what is going into the place, they are currently painting the interior walls (well, they were just before 8am this morning).

Do you mean Restaurant Antalya, Sondermeierstr. 105, 80939? Anyone been there lately? Other recommendations also welcome.

Coming from a Turk...
Marmaris Restaurant on Hermann Lingg between Bayer and Schwanthaler is positively off the charts. Go in a large group, and start with "mixed hot and cold turkish starters." I don't think they speak english at all so I ordered for all my friends in Turkish.

Starters, drinks and main came to about 25E a person... kinda expensive... so instead go to..
SOFRA on Rosenheimer near the corner of Am Gasteig. Its an Imbiss, but after sampling, I think, 16 or 17 doner places this one is head and shoulders above. Big fridge of turkish home cooking too.

I can second that - always fresh stuff. Just had a durum there last week on the way to Gasteig - really filling and only €4. Very handy for me a lunchtimes too
fraufruit
Cennet on Falmerayerstr. just around the corner from Tacos y Tequila. Quite nice food there and a nice place with outside seating.

I have friends coming next weekend and as they are aware there are a lot of Turkish Citizens in the Munich area, they are wondering if we can take them for good Turkish food (they lived in Istanbul for 3 years). It can be a restaurant, or a whole in the wall. They don't care, they just want good food.
Can anyone help? Any recommendations?

Antalya.

Restaurant Marmaris
Hermann-Lingg-Str. 12
Google maps
Near U-Bahn U4/U5 Theresienwiese, or Tramway 19 Hermann-Lingg-Str if I remember right

Pretty expensive for an average restaurant 10 Euro / meal, no lunch specials. Very intelligent manager who did have 1-2 years ago only the starters menu hanging at the door - without mentioning that you read the menu for the starters. Now they changed that and have a 3-lingual menu at the door. I read that menu quick last month and there were no vegetarian meals. I know a turkish company that is in munich for decades and they do their company celebration meals there, so it must be any good.

Trom the TT Page Turkish Restaurants
Liman opened 1-2 years ago and is pretty much empty when I walk there at night after 22:00h
Merhaba has been sold 1-2 times in the last couple of years
Ramo is the former guy that run Merhaba for long time, but is a cellar
I don´t know the other places, walked by at the Diyar numerous times, but they were on TV and local papers in the last 10 years and the prices went up to 10-12 Euro for a meal.

An alternative would be the Libanese restaurants, the south turkish cuisine is a copy of the libanese high cuisine. But this doesn´t include Iskender Kebap, which comes from west Turkey. They´re a little bit more expensive but if you know all classic turkish starters, you´ll be suprised to see them all on the Menu of a Libanese restaurant.

I like Diyar very much, Wörthstrasse 10, Haidhausen. Excellent food, service...they have belly dancing on Saturdays (only Sat I think; I personally don't like it too much, as the restaurant is too small so it gets very cramped, but you may feel it adds to the atmosphere), and they have a seating area outside on the street with heatlamps so they can use it when it's not fantastic weather too.
