What games do you guys play? (I've never been to a LAN party before)

I'm most likely free for some starcraft or Counter Strike Original on either of those weekends, preferably the one in May, but either way... My brother most likely would want to go too, and it'd be a great opportunity to meet some new people.
I'm up for file swap as well.

I have never played Starcraft. It is being mentioned a lot so maybe I should give it a try. Counter-Strike Source is $49.95 which also includes Half Life 2. If you want Half Life 2:Deathmatch included it is $59.95. Convert this to Euros or Pounds and it looks cheaper. If any of you decide to buy we can have a TT Lan Party online . There are some german servers we can play on. You need broadband for this. Who wants to try an online meeting?
www.streampowered.comLooks like the LAN party may be April 30. Lets see who else is interested.

I can't do April 30, but anytime after that I should be good. Again, visitors that weekend.

From a weather perspective this week looks like crap. Why don't we meet on Wednesday or Thursday night at either
The Arc or The
Twisted Bavarian and have a go with Starcraft.
I suggest Starcraft for our 1st meeting as the hardware required is minimal (any laptops made in the last few years should cut it) plus between parnell and I we can install it on everybody's machine for free (the CD I have allows client installations but you can't run the game standalone without being connected to my PC).
Thoughts?

sounds great. this is fantastic because anyone with a laptop and minimal graphic specs can come. let's do it. do you have a hub?? how do you wanna connect? doesnt SC limit to 4 people?
i can do both wed and thu.

Apr 25 2005, 4:23 pm
Are we talking WLAN here?
DrivinWest
Apr 25 2005, 4:24 pm
Oooh, I dunno about the limitation but 4 very well may be correct. I'll check tonight. I have a hub which is probably the way to go (though I have to take apart my setup at most to get it to work). Does anybody have an extra? Maybe somebody who recently upgraded to WLAN?

I could do Wednesday as long as
Ultimate Frisbee isn't going on. Can't do Thursday though.
As for the limitation for Starcraft, isn't it 8 people? I remember 8 people playing at once online, but is it different when using a hub?

Wednesday is rocking for me...I'll have laptop prepared...I could probably try and steal/borrow a hub from work or something
@Boston ... yeh man you can roll with 8
I'll bring a set of sockets (5) but I reckon someone should bring at least another 1.
Also please remember to bring your own LAN cables folks (suggest you all rob/borrow) from work

I got a two-yr-old noname 4-port router on eBay until Saturday but even at a snappchen €1 it ain't got bids. If it remains this way, PM me on Sunday and arrange to collect. NO charge :-)

does
The Arc have a power point near the tables?
Hazza
Apr 26 2005, 4:54 pm
We have a few powerpoints around and some powerboards and extension leads. We can arrange it without any worries...
Just let us know in advance when you'd like to do this and we can prepare for you. It would be best to arrange for a slower night - during the week when there's no major sport on, or on a Sunday.
