Hi All,
I am a newbie to TT, so be gentle

I am too a gamer, but in the last two years been very few times online (gaming) and two times on a LAN party.
While reading this thread (from the beginning) I thought to suggest something:
From my experience most players belong to one of two groups:
1.(realtime) Strategy games (starcraft, spacecraft, warcraft, civilization etc)
2. Shoot'em up - first person: (CS,DOD,RavenSheild,ButtleField ,DOOM, Unreal, etc...)
(for LAN parties I am nor the second type, since I like the team play)
Although many like to play both, most will prefer one type as a "theme" for a LAN session.
So my first suggestion would be, to make a poll, and see which kind( if any, after all, i might be wrong on this) is preferred.
(Maybe one LAN session could be one kind, and the next the other?)
Second, make clear before the session, which games will be played(also poll?), so people get time to prepare (install etc) BEFORE the session, so that during the session it self, it will only be about setting up the network...
Also, I think you should consider playing online (internet) or not.
If there are enough people (say from 10 upwards) it might be better to NOT play online.
Since in the local LAN you have more control to set the server as you like, and dont have to be bothered with pings, cheats, kiddies and stuff like that...
I personally dont have HL2 yet.
I just dont have the heart to spend 50€ on a PC game (even more so now, since I hardly play lately)
But, for the others I have seen here that didn't play CS before (and asked about it), all you need is a legal copy of HL1, and you can get that either on ebay or Amazon for prices like 10-20€...
Then all you need to do it register on the steam engine - but it wont cost you anything.
The down side of steam is that it makes you buy the games.
The up side is that no one can steal your code once you registered it on steam.
I am up for a session if it will be mostly CS,DOD and Battlefield and RavenSheild.
I can bring with me a HUB for 4 PC's if needed.
I hope you didn't all fall asleep while reading this long post...
Cheers
Dani.
